2. Ogden

Main site
The first and main location I plan on using within my music video is that of Ogden water. The
reason for this is due to the link to the outdoors that my music video has, such as the title
Down by the River and the interpretation of the lyrics creating ideas about being outdoors. Not
only does Ogden have a forest section towards it but also has a reservoir, again linking back to
the title of the song and the connection with water. Various camera shots will be used within
this location at various different spots, for example on the main track that leads around the
reservoir and through the woodland of Ogden itself. Due to the diversity of the land that
Ogden has and the various different types of land that it has, such as forests, footpaths and
grassland hills. I can film the vast majority of my music video at this location, whilst giving the
appearance that numerous locations were used for filming. To add to that, Ogden also has a
windfarm. This is a feature which I have attempted to cooperate into my storyline by
showcasing the windmills within my music video. The time of filming will be during the day
due to there being a lack of unnatural lighting at this location, as it is a nature reserve, and this
will therefore mean that there will be a lack of lighting which will give my product an overall
dark look towards it. One of the main positives of this location is that it is very rarely, to almost
never closed to the public and due to this the chance of having access to film here is very high.
However, due to how open it is to the public there is a chance that there could be a large
population at this location at the time of filming, but to counter this, due to the vast amount of
land it will be very easy to find another spot to film in.
4. Shibden Park

The second location which I may use for filming if my desired first location is unavailable is that
of Shibden Park. Similarly to Ogden, the terrain at this location is very similar in the terms of
there being a lake and a forest, both of which link back to my song as previously stated.
Similarly to the Ogden location very similar shots will be filmed here in terms of the
protagonists walking on a path and through the woodland that Shibden has to offer. Both
Shibden and Ogden offer a forest type of terrain which is a prominent factor within my music
video (due to the connection between the title and the way in which I have create the
narrative of my song to be based around the outdoors) , and similarly to Ogden both have a
footpath, which again plays another key role in helping advance my storyline. However, it
should be noted that unlike Ogden, Shibden doesn’t have a grassland hillside or windmills. This
could be a major issue if I did have to use Shibden as the filming location for my product due
to the grassland and windmills being key in helping advance my storyline, this would therefore
mean that my idea and concept would have to be adapted if Shibden is used for filming. In
order to overcome issues with regards to the lack of grassland hills Shibden has to offer, I
would have to use the hills which overlook the park itself. However, the overall professionalism
of my product would be reduced due to the lack of hills the park has and how obvious it would
be for audiences to see that the location used isn’t an actual grassland hillside which I have
stated I want to feature within my product. With regards to the time of day that the footage
would be shot at, this could either be during the day or early evening. The main reason for this
is because Shibden has a lot more in terms of unnatural lighting such as street lamps and as a
result the lighting isn’t as dark as in comparison to Ogden. However, the disadvantages of this
location are that there is a much larger population and as a result numerous shots will have
difficulty in filming because of the large amount of people that attend Shibden, in comparison
to Ogden reservoir.
6. Shroggs Park
Image of Location Description
Main Site
The third location which I have considered for creating my product is that of
Shroggs Park. One of the main reasons for this is because of how close it is to
where myself and the protagonists Callum Smith live. The same type of terrain
that is at both Ogden and Shibden is also present in Shroggs, however, there is
no lake or water in general which does therefore mean that the link to the title of
the song isn’t present. Despite this there is unnatural lighting which is present at
this location through the use of street lamps and as a result the time of day we
could use for filming could either be the during the day or later in the evening.
Disadvantages that come with using Shroggs as a filming location is that of the
high volume of people that attend the park and as a result some of the shots
could be difficult to film due to the presence of people there. Furthermore, a lot
of the terrain which is present at my other locations, such as a hillside, water/
lake and wind turbines are all elements which are not present. Due to this and
the style of storyline that I have created, the inclusion of such factors plays a
crucial role within my product and due to the lack of these styles of terrain it
would result in Shroggs Park being my least favoured option for filming. The
same type of shots, however, such as showing the main character walking
through the forest section of the park as well as playing the guitar in a remote
part of the park can be created, but the overall professionalism of my product
would be lost due to the location of filming lacking key elements that my product
needs in order to be of high quality and as a result, successful.
