The author learned several things from completing the preliminary task to the full music magazine product. They improved the layout so that everything fit properly on the page. The final magazine looked more professional with coverlines and pull quotes. Their IT skills improved as they used more complex features. Researching music increased their knowledge. Comparing the contents pages showed significant improvements in layout, content, and images. Completing the full project helped them better understand magazine conventions and details through research and planning.

1. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
As you can see, the main image from the preliminary task was very amateur in the sense of not
fitting on the page. Whereas, for the music magazine task I considered this so everything fitted on
the page perfectly. Another improvement for my music magazine is that it looks professional and
more realistic, due to the coverlines and pull quote. My IT skills have improved since doing the
prelim task – I used more much complex features when undergoing the production stages, in order
to create a higher standard of work and I believe you can see this when comparing both. Overall, my
knowledge on music has increased and I believe that this is due to the vast amount of research I did
before hand, juxtaposed with the research I did for the preliminary task.

2. Comparing both my contents pages, you can see a significant difference. From the layout, content
and images. As you can see, I used a lot more features when creating my music magazine. I used a
lot of different layers and I also include the masthead. This is not only down to my IT skills but my
knowledge about how a magazine should look and what they contain. I gained this knowledge from
my research and planning stages, which informed me a lot on music magazines. In terms of
magazine conventions, I feel I have learnt a lot in the progression of making my music magazine. This
is down to wanting to add more detail and being specific, in order to create an excellent product.
