1. As you can see I am keeping
with the red theme, but this is a
lighter shade which is
subsequently more fun and in my
opinion carefree. I also believe
that the words ‘PLAY’ is
entertaining and play on words,
as if ‘playing’ music. For this
font I decided to do a colour
overlay (as demonstrated in the
shade of red) and a gradient
overlay which creates a subtle
gradient for a more sophisticated
edge.
For this particular font, I have mostly had a younger audience
in mind with the fun, play on words. It is notably clear that I
have done this due to block wording, not particularly
representing anything that is symbolic within the magazine
i.e. the genre – which could be a weakness as I want to
attract my target audience (largely a younger audience)
through every aspect of my music magazine; especially the
front cover.
The masthead font does not particularly inherit the
genre of nostalgia rock, or rock as a whole. As you
can see the font is fairly modern with block sans
chosen and the colour of a lighter shade of red – still
connoting power.
