3. INTRODUCTION OF NANO SILICA
Silicon dioxide nano-particles are known as Nano
Silica, it is also called Silica nano-particles.
It is used particularly in the Biomedical researches.
This nano silica is expected to be very much stable
and to have very low level of toxicity.
4. NANO TECHNOLOGY
Nowadays Nanotechnology is one of the most
active research areas which has wide
applications in almost all the fields.
So, in these project, improving SCC concrete
properties by addition of nano-silica particles,
compare the test results with conventional
concrete.
Better bond between aggregates and cement
paste.
Improves the toughness, shear, tensile
strength and flexural strength of concrete.
5. WHY NANO TECHNOLOGY FOR CONCRETE
Improves the materials bulk properties.
Ability to control or manipulate materials at
the atomic scale.
To obtain thinner final products and faster
setting time.
Cost effectiveness.
Lowered levels of environmental
contamination.

21. CONCLUSION
On addition of Nano SiO2 there is a substantial increase in the
early-age strength of concrete compared to the 28 day increase
in strength.
From the compressive strength results, it can be observed that
increase in compressive strength of concrete is observed on
addition of a certain minimum quantity of Nano SiO2. The
increase in strength is maximum for NS 1% b.w.c and least for
NS 0.3% b.w.c.
The Nano SiO2 added to the mix filled up the pores in between
the C-S-H gel, hence, making the microstructure more compact
and uniform.
