2. PURPOSE: Help run the Living Free Desert Outpost store at
the Westfield Palm Desert. Volunteers will greet visitors and
educate them on our mission, our history, how we rescue pets
in need of a second chance and our War Horse Creek program
for veterans. Volunteers will also maintain the store and sell
Living Free and War Horse Creek branded merchandise.
DEPARTMENT: Administration
SCHEDULE/TIME COMMITMENT:
• 1 or more days a week
• 11:00am to 4:00pm shift

3. • Prepare and open up the store to visitors along with
greeting all mall visitors.
• Serve as an ambassador to Living Free and be able to
communicate our mission and program activities.
• Financial controls such as handling money and processing
cash and credit card transactions.
• Stock new merchandise including categorizing and placing
new products on the shelves.
• Maintain the store's physical appearance which may include
some clean up of spills, dusting and cleaning shelves,
putting misplaced items back on the right shelves,
decorating for holidays or other special events.
• Help with Special Events.

• Ability to keep people entertained and engaged
• Prior customer service experience or interest in
working in a shop; ability to do basic arithmetic and
perform sales transactions; some lifting will be
required.

visitors understand what we do at the sanctuary.
• Interpersonal skills and is comfortable speaking with
others
• Detail-oriented and ability to give accurate information
from an outlined script
• Ability to work well in a team environment
TRAINING:
• After completing volunteer interviews and online
orientation, the volunteer will learn on-the-job with
staff to give scripted educational information
