2. POSITION: Docent Tour Guide
PURPOSE: To give Living Free visitors a tour of the
sanctuary while educating them on our mission, our
history, how we rescue pets in need of a second
chance and our equine program for veterans called
War Horse Creek.
DEPARTMENT: Administration
SCHEDULE/TIME COMMITMENT:
• 1 or more days a week (depending on on tour
schedule)
• 11:00am to 4:00pm shift

3. • Prepare for the day of tours by reviewing list of
scheduled tours and check in with kennel,
cattery and equine staff at the star of your shift
• Greet scheduled tour guests at Visitor’s Center
• Inform guests to follow all safety protocols
during the tour. Stop tour if guests are not
following directions
• Drive guests around property and stop at
various locations speak about specific points of
interest
• Keep tour to 50 minutes (allowing enough time
for for guest to depart and be prepared for next
tour)
• Answer guest questions

4. • Must have a driver's license
• Ability to drive a Living Free vehicle
around property to give the tour
• Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills
• Ability to keep people entertained and
engaged

5. • Passionate about Living Free's mission and helping
guests understand what we do at the sanctuary
• Interpersonal skills and is comfortable speaking with
others (individually and in small groups)
• Detail-oriented and ability to give accurate information
from an outlined script
• Ability to work well in a team environment
TRAINING:
• After completing volunteer interviews and online
orientation, the volunteer will learn on-the-job with
staff to give a scripted tour including how to properly
drive Living Free vehicle, and use of two way radio
