1. Survey Evaluation
From my survey I found that there was a clear choice in the answers for the
majority of my questions. Due to this, figuring out what I wanted my magazine to
be like was slightly easier.
My choice of genre was a mix of both my survey answers and my music taste.
This is because from my results indie/alternative had the same amount of
answers as rock. I chose indie/alternative as I knew this would be more
enjoyable and I would be better at this than other genres.
I found out that the most common artists were ones such as oasis, the vaccines,
two door cinema club, foster the people, friendly fires, imagine dragons and the
beatles.
My choice of price came from my survey as the most common answers ranged
between £1-£4. I felt that it would be better to lower the £4 to £3 and so am
taking this part to my focus group for discussion.
The choice of my double page spread was based one two questions; “what do you
think would be the best articles in this magazines?” and “If you were to read a
double page spread what would you like to read about?”As the choice of article
was between a double page spread about festivals; what to take and which are
the best ones, and upcoming events, artists and music I have decided to again
take this information to my focus group.
My masthead “Alt.” came from an answer in my survey. Only one person
suggested this, as I left it as an open question, but it really stood out to me as I
think it is catchy and different.
Overall I think that my survey was really helpful in bringing my ideas together
and being able to make a choice on what I wanted my magazine to be like.
