3. Graphic Design Experiments
- I tried experimenting by changing the background to different
shades of red, until I eventually got to a shading of red I like.
- Scrolling through different fonts and sizing.
- Adjusting the brightness, contrast and colouring for the images.
- I kept changing the image placements and sizes by moving it around
as well as resizing.
- For experimenting, I had to do a poster for York College, as a way to
get the grasp of learning with Photoshop, as well as a good way to
experiment with ideas.
4. Graphic Design Production
• Advantages of working in Photoshop
– Allows for lots of experimenting of different ideas you would like to
use in your product.
– Pretty good program to use if you want to professionally edit pictures.
• Disadvantages of working in Photoshop
– Pretty expensive to buy.
– Can be quite hard to learn how to use some of its tools and features.
– Layout can be confusing to learn and remember at times.
5. Graphic Design Production
Similarities:
- Both advertise Coca Cola.
- Same colour of background (being red).
- Each have a slogan and similar text to stand out.
Differences:
- The left one has all types of Coca Cola in the poster, original, life, zero and diet, whereas my poster
just included a can.
- Different slogans
- Mine has a logo at the top, while the other poster does not.
- Mine is portrait while the other is landscape.
6. Graphic Design Production
Strength: Bold black
logo, helps stand out.
Strength: Slogan that
may make people
want to buy the
product advertised.
Strength: Bold
readable font that
stands out.
Strength: Red
background where the
shading is brighter in
the middle, while it
gets darker around the
poster.
Weakness: I could have tried adding a little more details, such as
drops shadows to everything to help it stand out even more. I
could try remember that for when I do another project using
Photoshop.

8. Radio Production Experiments
- One thing I experimented with was with BeepBox.com, which is what I used to
make my music. I decided to experiment with various instrument types and
creating a catchy beat which would fit my advert.
- Another thing was finding different sounds from different free sound websites, I
decided to go with sounds that would fit the beach setting.
- I experimented with Premiere Pro, a music editing program, by mixing music
with the sounds and seeing what works.
- I kept changing up and down the volume to make some sounds stand out, until
eventually I decided to have each sound happen simultaneously rather than it
all playing at the same time.
- I even decided to find a jingle to play at the end.
9. Radio Production
• Advantages of working in Premiere Pro:
- Good for editing and splicing in music with sounds.
- Can turn the volume up and down so its not all loud at once and some
aspects which need to be heard or quiet.
- Has various tools and such that allows for experimentation when it comes
to editing or making music.
• Disadvantages of working in Premiere Pro:
– Can be a bit difficult trying to learn the tools you need to use.
– Rely on all your stuff being manually saved rather than automatically.
– Chances of your work being un-editable, if not saved to the right file
type.
10. Radio Production
• For this part of the project, I had to make a Radio Advertisement, so I
decided to go with a beach setting (which is why I decided to put
sounds of water and waves, as well as wind and people talking in the
background. I also wanted to add the sound of someone opening a
bottle of Coca Cola and drinking it, followed by the little jingle at the
end.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx-ZgLAFXGo – Coca Cola Beach House advert
- Similarities:
- Both have music.
- Beach setting
- Someone goes to take a drink.
- Both advertise the same product.
- Both suit their target audience, which is 16-19 year olds.
- Differences:
- Song used has lyrics, whereas mine does not.
- Length difference.
- The Beach House advertisement does not have a jingle at the end.
11. Radio Production
• Strengths:
• - Helpful for editing together music and sounds for a Radio advertisement.
• - Personally, the finished Radio Advertisement turned out well, I liked how I
had music in the background playing with the various sounds popping in
and out, rather than having everything playing over at once.
• - I also liked learning how to use PremeirePro and BeepBox.
• Weaknesses/things I would improve:
• - I would try to improve the volume to make certain aspects of the
advertisement either a bit louder or quieter.
• - Try make it a bit shorter in length.
• - Maybe try adding a few more sounds.
• - I could try experimenting more.
12.
13. Advergame Experiments
- One thing I experimented with was grabbing different images of
pixelated worlds from video games I play, and kept trying to draw over
them, mostly using them as a helpful guideline if anything.
- I decided to try different colours and shading of the world.
- I decided to go with a top down game, where a character runs around
and picked up the coca cola cans.
- I experimented with trying to add a counter which counts up every time
a coca cola can is picked up. Mostly by having it happen on the same
frame as the can being collected.
- I tried looking for different sound effects and made my own music
through BeepBox, which I edited into my product in Premiere Pro.
14. Advergame Production
• Advantages of working in Photoshop
– Learning how to animate was pretty fun, because I got to have my own
creativity and use my ideas for my animation.
– Making pixel art in Photoshop was interesting to learn, since it is a
artstyle I really like in general, so being able to design a animation
using this style was nice.
• Disadvantages of working in Photoshop
– Quite hard to learn how to use the tools needed to animate.
– Pixel art can be tedious to do sometimes, especially with how
restrictive of a style it is.
15. Advergame Production

U (Coca-Cola - Catch-@-
Coke (2001 PC Game))
Similarities:
- Both are advergames
- They advertise Coca Cola.
Differences:
- Different gameplay style, one is a top down runner similar to games like Legend
of Zelda, while the other one is more 3d and similar in terms of gameplay to like
Tapper.
- My advert is shorter than the other one.
- One has the character running around collecting coca cola, while the other has
the main character handing Coca Cola bottles to other people.
- The other one does not have music (aside from sound effects and a 1 second
victory jingle), whereas mine does.
16. Advergame Production
Strengths:
- Learning how to animate was fun, because it allowed me to do what I wanted to do
with my character.
- I managed to make the music and add in sound effects using different music sites like
BeepBox.
- Quite enjoyed making the Pixel Art, mostly because I was drawing myself as well as
designing a background and character in a style I never really drew a character in
before, even if it did get a bit tedious at times.
Weaknesses:
- I could go back and improve the background a bit, adding in more detail.
- Maybe try making it a bit longer.
- Pixel art while fun, was quite tedious to do at times.
- Could try draw the Coca Cola logo but in pixel art next time.

18. Comparison
• Which product do you believe advertises the product the best?
Why?
- The Coca Cola poster advertises the product the best in my opinion.
Mostly because it has a fancy slogan, the Coca Cola can stand out, as
well as a big bold Coca Cola logo at the top. It is nice to look at and
read, can be quite eye catching to most people and make them want
to buy the product I feel.
• Which of your products is the most professional? Why?
- The Adver Game is the most professional in my opinion because it is
the one I feel I put the most effort into. I tried making the Coca Cola
cans being collected and the counter going up on the same frame, as
well as tried putting a sound effect whenever a Coca Cola can is picked
up.
19. Reflective Triangle
Write down one key
thing you have learnt
from this project
Write down two
things you would do
differently if you were
to do this project
again and how you
would do that.
Write down three
things you still need
to develop your
understanding on or
skills within.
I learned Good
editing skills using
professional
software like
Photoshop and
PremeirePro.
Try make my

I could try
branch out my
ideas more if we
was to do this
project again.
I want to develop
my skills on
Premiere Pro a
bit more.
Try develop my
skills on thinking
more creatively
when it comes to
ideas.
I could try developing
my skills on
Photoshop, using it
more professionally.
