A mesh consists of vertices, edges, and faces that define the shape of a 3D model. Common modeling techniques include primitive modeling using basic shapes, box modeling using subdivision and extrusion tools, and extrusion modeling where a 2D shape is adjusted and extruded into a 3D shape. Sketch modeling is useful for quick, low-detailed models. 3D scanners can also be used to instantly create highly detailed models based on real-world objects but the technology is currently very expensive.
