4. Gender I believe that the products that I produced aren’t biased towards a particular gender. Although the front cover does feature a female artist primarily attracting females, this is contrasted with the double page spread featuring an all male band therefore primarily attracting males. The contents page consists of both female and male bands and solo artists therefore representing both genders and appealing to both men and women.
5. Colours The colour scheme that I chose to use of black white and red aren’t stereotypical to one particular gender therefore further reinforcing that my products aren’t gender biased, but also representing many different social groups and musical genres as the magazine I produced is a multi-platform magazine. The colour black can be seen as representing the rock social group and genre having connotations of darkness. The white can be seen as a brighter colour therefore representing the pop social group as well as the country social group having connotations of peace. The red can be seen as having connotations of passion and love representing the indie social group.
6. Age The target audience age range was between 13 and 23, this is represented through images as well as articles. The images I used represent the different ages through the artists themselves with the both the front cover artist and the double page spread artists fitting within the target age range, represent the younger ages and the images of James Michael aged 20 and Jessie J aged 23 representing the upper age range. The artists featured throughout also have a wide range in ages representing both the top and bottom end of my target audience age range.
