FACTORS WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO
THE SUCCESS OF THIS KIND OF
EXTENSIVE READING
 The library should have a expanse of
different genres such as:
 Factual
 Novels
 Adaptations of films
 Drama
 Science Fiction, etc.
 Students need to have access to a large
selection of books be available for they
to choose from at their level.
 The teacher can also carry collections
of books.
Students be able choose
what they want to read
based on their interest-
both in terms of genre and
of level English ,
therefore the students will
feel enthusiastic to start
reading.
 The teacher can ask
students about the books
they are reading.
 The teacher would
motivate the students to
do mini-presentations of
the books or book
reviews, but these should
not be a obligation.
The vocabulary and grammar of the books that
students read should not present a difficult.
The objective of read is to improve reading
fluency on the students, so students should
not be stopping frequently because they do
not understand section of text.
The books should not be too easy because this
could demotivate students.
 The students should have the
opportunity to comment about what
they read in the class for share
their opinion about the book.
 The contributions of different
opinion can help to other student
to choose a book.
 The teacher should give ten-
minute reading period at various
times during the clause just to
get students feel comfortable
with the activity.
 When we do this we should be
reading ourselves in order to
underline the attractiveness of
the activity.
