Electrical System Study of Ruwais Refinery including General Utility Plant (GUP)
Ruwais refinery has undergone expansion since installation of Hydro skimmer/Hydrocracker units built in 1982/83. Condensate plant
was commissioned in the year 2000, Gasoline in 2006, Green Diesel in 2011 & Base Oil Unit is commissioned in 1st Quarter 2014.
General Utility plant which came into existence in 1982/83 (Phase–0) with Steam Turbo Generators STG-1 & 2 and GTG – 1 & 2 units
has undergone Phase-1 expansion with commissioning of GTG-3 in 1995. In Phase – 2, four new GTG’s were installed in 2000/2001.
Phase – 3 expansion was carried out in the year 2013 with installation of new 220/132/33/11 kV substations.
GUP has undergone expansion in 4 phases (0-1980, 1-1995, 2-2001, 3-2012), whereas Refinery expansion/new unit addition was
carried out in 6 phases (0-1980, 1-1984, 2-1999, 3-2004, 4-2010, 5-2013)
During the above expansions of GUP units & refinery plants, electrical system studies were carried out considering the unit expansions
individually, however a comprehensive system study is to be carried out considering all the above expansions as well as modifications
like, 33kV substation 14 elimination carried out in Ruwais Industrial area.

4. ADCO
CONSTRUCTION OF MPP, MSM'S AND MPFM'S AT BU HASA RDS'S
Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) intends to expand the existing gas lift network at Bu Hasa oil production field
by including 30 additional oil wells in order to reactivate the production from the same. The existing network already consists of 10 gas
lift oil wells and 1 water alternating gas (WAG) well. Bu Hasa field is located about 200 km south west of the city of Abu Dhabi. The
terrain consists of sand dunes separated by flat corridors and occasionally local silt deposit areas.
The electrical scope included the following:
Relay settings for 3.3kV Motor feeder for Water disposal pump (12-01-PM-2411) fed from 3.3kV switchboard (12-01-HSWG-4301-
02) at New-substation, CDS in-coordination with existing Bus-Coupler &Incomer settings.
Relay settings for following 415V motors:-
Seal Fan # 1 for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-01)
Seal Fan # 2 for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-02)

ADCO
EPC FOR BUHASA SHUAIBA SOUTH ARTIFICIAL (GAS) LIFT PROJECT – PHASE I (P12435)
Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore operations (ADCO) operates the Bu Hasa field located at 200 km south west of Abu Dhabi city. It
contributes 38% of the daily asset production. Central Degassing Station (CDS) is connected directly with oil wells with a network of oil
flow lines and three Remote Degassing Stations (RDS-1, 2 & 3) through transfer lines. As a part of this Project, the oil gathering and
well testing capacity are being augmented at Bu Hasa RDS-1, RDS-2 and RDS-3.
The oil gathering capacity at Bu Hasa RDS-1 will be enhanced by provision of Multi-Selector Manifolds (MPSM) and will provide
additional 14 slots for the tie-in of new oil wells. Furthermore the combined hydrocarbon fluid from these MPSM would be routed to the
Production Headers / Transfer Lines and then routed to Bu Hasa CDS. Testing of each well would be done using a dedicated
Multiphase flow meter (MPFM) and flexibility will be added to use the existing testing facilities in case of maintenance.
