Electrical System Study of Ruwais Refinery including General Utility Plant (GUP)
Ruwais refinery has undergone expansion since installation of Hydro skimmer/Hydrocracker units built in 1982/83. Condensate plant
was commissioned in the year 2000, Gasoline in 2006, Green Diesel in 2011 & Base Oil Unit is commissioned in 1st Quarter 2014.
General Utility plant which came into existence in 1982/83 (Phase–0) with Steam Turbo Generators STG-1 & 2 and GTG – 1 & 2 units
has undergone Phase-1 expansion with commissioning of GTG-3 in 1995. In Phase – 2, four new GTG’s were installed in 2000/2001.
Phase – 3 expansion was carried out in the year 2013 with installation of new 220/132/33/11 kV substations.
GUP has undergone expansion in 4 phases (0-1980, 1-1995, 2-2001, 3-2012), whereas Refinery expansion/new unit addition was
carried out in 6 phases (0-1980, 1-1984, 2-1999, 3-2004, 4-2010, 5-2013)
During the above expansions of GUP units & refinery plants, electrical system studies were carried out considering the unit expansions
individually, however a comprehensive system study is to be carried out considering all the above expansions as well as modifications
like, 33kV substation 14 elimination carried out in Ruwais Industrial area.
The electrical scope was to carry out the detailed power system study for Ruwais Refinery including General Utility Plant (GUP).
As part of this project, the following were carried out:
 Complete network modelling in ETAP software for the entire refinery.
 Load flow calculations
 Short circuit calculations
 Motor starting studies and analysis related to largest 11KV, 3.3KV as well as LV motor starts on normal and EDG supply.
 Updation of relay setting table using GE Enervista Relay Software.
 Participated in meetings with client regarding discussions with Load flow and Short circuit studies.
 GASCO
EPC for Filtration, Metering and FCV Skids at Mirfa, CRS-705
Al Mirfa Integrated Water Power Plant IWPP / MIPCO (Mirfa International Power Company) requires additional sales gas to meet their
expansion requirements. The existing supply is for 224 MMSCFD and needs to be increased to 310 MMSCFD. Existing filters cannot
handle additional gas. Hence new filters are required to be designed to cater the requirement. The following additional facilities have
been identified.
 Provide new filters (1W+1S) considering the solid loading criteria of 7.1 gram / MMSCF.
 Provide new Ultrasonic metering skid in Z configuration for better accuracy and range ability, along with metering panel with flow
computers.
 Provide new flow limiting valve skid with block and bypass arrangement.
The electrical scope of work includes modification of low voltage switchgear, replacement of 24V DC supply to 240V AC supply, Active
cooled shelter to accommodate the new AC UPS and battery, preparation of datasheets, specifications, load lists, equipment lists,
material requisitions.
 GASCO
EPC for Filtration, Metering and FCV Skids at Borouge CRS
GASCO intends to install new filter units on upstream of natural gas metering station, to prevent carryover of black powder particles
through the pipeline and preventing damage to the downstream equipment, valves & inline instruments. To install new filtration system
to the existing one, all associated modification of mechanical, piping, Project Objective is to install New Filter Units (1W+1S)
considering the solid loading criteria of 7.1 gram/MMSCF to improve reliability of metering system.
The electrical scope of work includes modification of low voltage switchgear, Installation of new LVDB, preparation of datasheets,
specifications, load lists, equipment lists and material requisitions, review of SLD’s.
 GASCO
EPC Work for Buhasa Lean Gas Tarco Control System Replacement
The scope of this project was to replace obsolete GE-Fanuc PLC’s in Lean Gas Station with the latest GE MARK VIe system.
 Replacement of Unit – A GE-Fanuc PLC with GE Mark VIe Integrated turbine and compressor control system (ITCCS) at a
new location
 Replacement of Unit – S GE-Fanuc PLC with GE Mark VIe Integrated turbine and compressor control system (ITCCS)
 Replacement of Common Station GE-Fanuc PLC with GE Mark VIe SIL capable Control System PLC at a new location.
 To provide new home run cables from GE Mark VIe ITCCS cabinets to field junction box as the new GE Mark VIe ITCCS
cabinets are installed in new location.
The electrical scope of work includes preparation of datasheets, specifications, load lists, cable schedules, cable sizing calculations,
reviewing of single line diagrams and material take-off. Site visit was carried out in order to check the following:
 Survey the existing Lighting and small power DBs to finalize the non-essential power distribution to new ITCCS and server
panels.
 It was observed that, there is no spare feeder in the DB 83.5-14 and DB-83.5-16. Hence possibility of modification by adding
new feeders to be checked.
 Survey the UPS room existing Earthing Bar/Grid to connect new UPS DBs proposed by this project.
 Survey any new lighting requirement or relocation of existing lighting in the room after installation of partition wall.
 ADNOC
Conversion of existing service stations as smart service stations and implementation of Vapour Recovery System
The scope of this project was to supply and install new LED light fittings in place of existing Metal halide light fittings in canopy area.
New 13A Power socket (UPS) and associated installation work shall be carried out for below listed items.
 New payment terminal.
 New CCTV monitor at cash counter (if required).
 Existing safe locker.
 New CCTV, PA system cabinet (if required).
Power supply shall be wired from nearest available UPS power socket. For new/under construction service stations (where possible)
shift the emergency push button outside the VeriFone cabinet to be more visible and accessible. For new/under construction service

The electrical scope of work was to review the cable routing, lighting layouts and BOQ’s.
 ADCO
CONSTRUCTION OF MPP, MSM'S AND MPFM'S AT BU HASA RDS'S
Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) intends to expand the existing gas lift network at Bu Hasa oil production field
by including 30 additional oil wells in order to reactivate the production from the same. The existing network already consists of 10 gas
lift oil wells and 1 water alternating gas (WAG) well. Bu Hasa field is located about 200 km south west of the city of Abu Dhabi. The
terrain consists of sand dunes separated by flat corridors and occasionally local silt deposit areas.
The electrical scope included the following:
 Relay settings for 3.3kV Motor feeder for Water disposal pump (12-01-PM-2411) fed from 3.3kV switchboard (12-01-HSWG-4301-
02) at New-substation, CDS in-coordination with existing Bus-Coupler &Incomer settings.
 Relay settings for following 415V motors:-
 Seal Fan # 1 for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-01)
 Seal Fan # 2 for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-02)
 Oil Cooler for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-03)
 ADCO
EPC FOR BUHASA SHUAIBA SOUTH ARTIFICIAL (GAS) LIFT PROJECT – PHASE I (P12435)
Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore operations (ADCO) operates the Bu Hasa field located at 200 km south west of Abu Dhabi city. It
contributes 38% of the daily asset production. Central Degassing Station (CDS) is connected directly with oil wells with a network of oil
flow lines and three Remote Degassing Stations (RDS-1, 2 & 3) through transfer lines. As a part of this Project, the oil gathering and
well testing capacity are being augmented at Bu Hasa RDS-1, RDS-2 and RDS-3.
The oil gathering capacity at Bu Hasa RDS-1 will be enhanced by provision of Multi-Selector Manifolds (MPSM) and will provide
additional 14 slots for the tie-in of new oil wells. Furthermore the combined hydrocarbon fluid from these MPSM would be routed to the
Production Headers / Transfer Lines and then routed to Bu Hasa CDS. Testing of each well would be done using a dedicated
Multiphase flow meter (MPFM) and flexibility will be added to use the existing testing facilities in case of maintenance.
The electrical scope of the project was to prepare the following:
 To perform ‘Load Flow Analysis’ to evaluate the adequacy of 33/0.433 kV Transformer (12-67-TP-4301-01) & to find out the
voltage at different power distribution boards like 415V Switchgear (12-67-MSWG-4401-01), MOV Distribution Board (12-67-
DB-4401-01) & Lighting & Small Power distribution board (12-67-DB-4401-02) under different scenarios.
 To perform ‘Short Circuit Analysis’ to check the adequacy of through fault current of 33/0.433 kV Transformer (12-67-TP-
4301-01), 415V Switchgear (12-67-MSWG-4401-01), MOV Distribution Board (12-67-DB-4401-01) and Lighting & Small
Power distribution board (12-67-DB-4401-02) under different scenarios.

EPC for Rumaitha/Shayanel Facilities-Phase III
The electrical scope of the project was calculation of the illumination level and provide appropriate lighting system, preparation of
Indoor and Outdoor SLD’s and cable schedules of the same for the new power skid at Clusters -17Q, 19S, 23W, 25Y, 28BB, 29CC,
16P, 18R, 24X and 30DD.

 Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation Guest House and Visitors Centre (ENEC) Western Region, Abu Dhabi, UAE
The Visitors Centre is an exhibition-like facility to educate visitors about safe, clean, reliable and environmentally friendly nuclear power
and the specifics of the ENEC program. The Visitors Centre collocated with the Guest House comprises of 3 floors is divided into 8
blocks. Out of which 5 are under main building and the rest are auxiliary buildings. The services undertaken in this project are
Distribution Transformers, LV Switchgear, Capacitor Bank, Diesel generator, Sub Main Distribution Boards, Distribution Boards, lighting
& small power system, earthing and lightning protection system, Telecom system, cable routing, Fire alarm and other low current
services.
 King Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Activities, Saudi Arabia
The project under Saudi Diyar Consultants is a hotel and a convention Centre comprises of 24 floors. The services done on this project
are lighting, power, telecom and fire alarm.
 Rafael residence, Saudi Arabia
It is a residential complex which has 27 floors and the only service under scope was low current services.
 Jabal Omar development Zone, Makkah Al Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia
The Jabal Omar Development Project is a unique urban re-generation scheme aimed at providing hotel accommodations,
commercial/retail spaces, car parking, public spaces and public amenities to support religious, social and commercial activities. It has
25 floors and the services employed till date are that of power and low current.
 Hangar Project at Saudi Arabia
It is an airport job out of which the mosque and administration blocks were under scope and the services under went were that of
containment, lighting and lightning & protection.
 Al Ain Hospital, Al Mowajeri, Al Ain
It constitutes of 8 floors and the services undertaken were that of Electrical builders work, Staircase detailed sections and
telecommunication services.

Professional experience: Tebodin Middle East Limited Apr 2015 – till date Discipline Electrical Engineer Projects Handled:  TAKREER Electrical System Study of Ruwais Refinery including General Utility Plant (GUP) Ruwais refinery has undergone expansion since installation of Hydro skimmer/Hydrocracker units built in 1982/83. Condensate plant was commissioned in the year 2000, Gasoline in 2006, Green Diesel in 2011 & Base Oil Unit is commissioned in 1st Quarter 2014. General Utility plant which came into existence in 1982/83 (Phase–0) with Steam Turbo Generators STG-1 & 2 and GTG – 1 & 2 units has undergone Phase-1 expansion with commissioning of GTG-3 in 1995. In Phase – 2, four new GTG’s were installed in 2000/2001. Phase – 3 expansion was carried out in the year 2013 with installation of new 220/132/33/11 kV substations. GUP has undergone expansion in 4 phases (0-1980, 1-1995, 2-2001, 3-2012), whereas Refinery expansion/new unit addition was carried out in 6 phases (0-1980, 1-1984, 2-1999, 3-2004, 4-2010, 5-2013) During the above expansions of GUP units & refinery plants, electrical system studies were carried out considering the unit expansions individually, however a comprehensive system study is to be carried out considering all the above expansions as well as modifications like, 33kV substation 14 elimination carried out in Ruwais Industrial area. The electrical scope was to carry out the detailed power system study for Ruwais Refinery including General Utility Plant (GUP). As part of this project, the following were carried out:  Complete network modelling in ETAP software for the entire refinery.  Load flow calculations  Short circuit calculations  Motor starting studies and analysis related to largest 11KV, 3.3KV as well as LV motor starts on normal and EDG supply.  Updation of relay setting table using GE Enervista Relay Software.  Participated in meetings with client regarding discussions with Load flow and Short circuit studies.  GASCO EPC for Filtration, Metering and FCV Skids at Mirfa, CRS-705 Al Mirfa Integrated Water Power Plant IWPP / MIPCO (Mirfa International Power Company) requires additional sales gas to meet their expansion requirements. The existing supply is for 224 MMSCFD and needs to be increased to 310 MMSCFD. Existing filters cannot handle additional gas. Hence new filters are required to be designed to cater the requirement. The following additional facilities have been identified.  Provide new filters (1W+1S) considering the solid loading criteria of 7.1 gram / MMSCF.  Provide new Ultrasonic metering skid in Z configuration for better accuracy and range ability, along with metering panel with flow computers.  Provide new flow limiting valve skid with block and bypass arrangement. The electrical scope of work includes modification of low voltage switchgear, replacement of 24V DC supply to 240V AC supply, Active cooled shelter to accommodate the new AC UPS and battery, preparation of datasheets, specifications, load lists, equipment lists, material requisitions.
  • 3.  GASCO EPC for Filtration, Metering and FCV Skids at Borouge CRS GASCO intends to install new filter units on upstream of natural gas metering station, to prevent carryover of black powder particles through the pipeline and preventing damage to the downstream equipment, valves & inline instruments. To install new filtration system to the existing one, all associated modification of mechanical, piping, Project Objective is to install New Filter Units (1W+1S) considering the solid loading criteria of 7.1 gram/MMSCF to improve reliability of metering system. The electrical scope of work includes modification of low voltage switchgear, Installation of new LVDB, preparation of datasheets, specifications, load lists, equipment lists and material requisitions, review of SLD’s.  GASCO EPC Work for Buhasa Lean Gas Tarco Control System Replacement The scope of this project was to replace obsolete GE-Fanuc PLC’s in Lean Gas Station with the latest GE MARK VIe system.  Replacement of Unit – A GE-Fanuc PLC with GE Mark VIe Integrated turbine and compressor control system (ITCCS) at a new location  Replacement of Unit – S GE-Fanuc PLC with GE Mark VIe Integrated turbine and compressor control system (ITCCS)  Replacement of Common Station GE-Fanuc PLC with GE Mark VIe SIL capable Control System PLC at a new location.  To provide new home run cables from GE Mark VIe ITCCS cabinets to field junction box as the new GE Mark VIe ITCCS cabinets are installed in new location. The electrical scope of work includes preparation of datasheets, specifications, load lists, cable schedules, cable sizing calculations, reviewing of single line diagrams and material take-off. Site visit was carried out in order to check the following:  Survey the existing Lighting and small power DBs to finalize the non-essential power distribution to new ITCCS and server panels.  It was observed that, there is no spare feeder in the DB 83.5-14 and DB-83.5-16. Hence possibility of modification by adding new feeders to be checked.  Survey the UPS room existing Earthing Bar/Grid to connect new UPS DBs proposed by this project.  Survey any new lighting requirement or relocation of existing lighting in the room after installation of partition wall.  ADNOC Conversion of existing service stations as smart service stations and implementation of Vapour Recovery System The scope of this project was to supply and install new LED light fittings in place of existing Metal halide light fittings in canopy area. New 13A Power socket (UPS) and associated installation work shall be carried out for below listed items.  New payment terminal.  New CCTV monitor at cash counter (if required).  Existing safe locker.  New CCTV, PA system cabinet (if required). Power supply shall be wired from nearest available UPS power socket. For new/under construction service stations (where possible) shift the emergency push button outside the VeriFone cabinet to be more visible and accessible.   • 4.  ADCO CONSTRUCTION OF MPP, MSM'S AND MPFM'S AT BU HASA RDS'S Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) intends to expand the existing gas lift network at Bu Hasa oil production field by including 30 additional oil wells in order to reactivate the production from the same. The existing network already consists of 10 gas lift oil wells and 1 water alternating gas (WAG) well. Bu Hasa field is located about 200 km south west of the city of Abu Dhabi. The terrain consists of sand dunes separated by flat corridors and occasionally local silt deposit areas. The electrical scope included the following:  Relay settings for 3.3kV Motor feeder for Water disposal pump (12-01-PM-2411) fed from 3.3kV switchboard (12-01-HSWG-4301- 02) at New-substation, CDS in-coordination with existing Bus-Coupler &Incomer settings.  Relay settings for following 415V motors:-  Seal Fan # 1 for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-01)  Seal Fan # 2 for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-02)  Oil Cooler for PM-2411 ( 12-01-FXM-2411-03)  ADCO EPC FOR BUHASA SHUAIBA SOUTH ARTIFICIAL (GAS) LIFT PROJECT – PHASE I (P12435) Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore operations (ADCO) operates the Bu Hasa field located at 200 km south west of Abu Dhabi city. It contributes 38% of the daily asset production. Central Degassing Station (CDS) is connected directly with oil wells with a network of oil flow lines and three Remote Degassing Stations (RDS-1, 2 & 3) through transfer lines. As a part of this Project, the oil gathering and well testing capacity are being augmented at Bu Hasa RDS-1, RDS-2 and RDS-3. The oil gathering capacity at Bu Hasa RDS-1 will be enhanced by provision of Multi-Selector Manifolds (MPSM) and will provide additional 14 slots for the tie-in of new oil wells. Furthermore the combined hydrocarbon fluid from these MPSM would be routed to the Production Headers / Transfer Lines and then routed to Bu Hasa CDS. Testing of each well would be done using a dedicated Multiphase flow meter (MPFM) and flexibility will be added to use the existing testing facilities in case of maintenance. The electrical scope of the project was to prepare the following:  To perform ‘Load Flow Analysis’ to evaluate the adequacy of 33/0.433 kV Transformer (12-67-TP-4301-01) & to find out the voltage at different power distribution boards like 415V Switchgear (12-67-MSWG-4401-01), MOV Distribution Board (12-67- DB-4401-01) & Lighting & Small Power distribution board (12-67-DB-4401-02) under different scenarios.  To perform ‘Short Circuit Analysis’ to check the adequacy of through fault current of 33/0.433 kV Transformer (12-67-TP- 4301-01), 415V Switchgear (12-67-MSWG-4401-01), MOV Distribution Board (12-67-DB-4401-01) and Lighting & Small Power distribution board (12-67-DB-4401-02) under different scenarios.  ADCO EPC for Rumaitha/Shayanel Facilities-Phase III The electrical scope of the project was calculation of the illumination level and provide appropriate lighting system, preparation of Indoor and Outdoor SLD’s and cable schedules of the same for the new power skid at Clusters -17Q, 19S, 23W, 25Y, 28BB, 29CC, 16P, 18R, 24X and 30DD.

The services done on this project are lighting, power, telecom and fire alarm.  Rafael residence, Saudi Arabia It is a residential complex which has 27 floors and the only service under scope was low current services.  Jabal Omar development Zone, Makkah Al Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia The Jabal Omar Development Project is a unique urban re-generation scheme aimed at providing hotel accommodations, commercial/retail spaces, car parking, public spaces and public amenities to support religious, social and commercial activities. It has 25 floors and the services employed till date are that of power and low current.  Hangar Project at Saudi Arabia It is an airport job out of which the mosque and administration blocks were under scope and the services under went were that of containment, lighting and lightning & protection.  Al Ain Hospital, Al Mowajeri, Al Ain It constitutes of 8 floors and the services undertaken were that of Electrical builders work, Staircase detailed sections and telecommunication services.
