Experience with Genesis, 2001 – 2016
Khalda PetroleumCompany: Hydra Phases IIIA and IIID, and Tarek Inlet Compression – Egypt –
Onshore - Project Engineering Manager
Genesis executed the detailed design for modifications at the Hydra and Shams facilities for installation of
new interconnecting pipelines. In parallel, two FEEDs were executed for addition of compression facilities at
the Hydra and Tarek facilities to mitigate declining reservoir pressures during later field life.
National Grid: White Rose Carbon Capture and Storage Project FEED – United Kingdom – Offshore &
Onshore – Consultant Engineer
Genesis executed the FEED for the White Rose Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) project, the purpose of
which is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by taking CO2 from onshore emitters (power stations), transport
it offshore via pipeline, and inject it into an offshore subsurface storage reservoir.
My role was to assist National Grid in developing tender packages for the Execute phase of the project, and
in technical reviews of EPC tenders for onshore and offshore pipelines, onshore pumping station, offshore
platform, and transport & installation.
NexenPetroleumU.K.Limited: BuzzardPhaseII Development - Jacket FEED – United Kingdom – Offshore
- Project Manager
Genesis was tasked by Nexen with the provision of engineering services associated with the FEED phase of
the project for the Buzzard Phase II jacket, in the UK sector of the North Sea.
The scope included:
Development of jacket and risers configuration to suit topsides and subsea layouts
Structural analyses (in-place, boat impact, fatigue, transport, pile installation, upending, lift and un-pile
stability)
Mudmat sizing and cathodic protection design
Weight estimate
FEED drawing package
Particular challenges were designing to ISO 19902 (more onerous than API), an unusual configuration of
having the majority (18 of 21) conductors located outside of the main jacket framing to suit the jack-up
approach, adopting two piles per leg instead of a more conservative 3 piles, and designing for installation by
two potential contractors.
FEED was delivered on time (5.5 months) and within budget (4600 manhours).
Project management of the FEED for the Buzzard Phase II (Northern Area) jacket. At 7400 tonnes in 88m
water, this is the largest jacket Genesis has designed and is a step change in Genesis jacket capability.
RWE Dea UK SNS Limited: Breagh Phase 2 - United Kingdom – Offshore | Project Manager
Management of Pre-FEEDfor the Breagh Bravo platform, developing RWE's conceptof a Clipper South type
topsides on a Breagh Alpha type jacket.
Key disciplines involved were piping/layout, structural, subsea, electrical and safety. Deliverables were a
number of technical notes describing the work done and defining the design to be taken forward into FEED,
preparing the FEED Basis of Design, level 1 schedule, and a +/-30% cost estimate.
BG Tunisia Limited: Acid Gas Management – Tunisia – Onshore | Engineering Manager
BG Tunisia Ltd are owner and operator of the Miskar asset in Tunisia. The asset consists of the Miskar
platform and the Hannibal Gas Treatment Plant. The Hannibal Sour Gas debottlenecking project included
the installation of a new Sulphuric Acid Plant (SAP), but after a failure to operate as expected the SAP was
shut down several years ago.
Genesis was tasked with conducting the FEED for the restart of the SAP as part of the Hannibal plant Acid
Gas Management project.

supervising topsides design development for the new gas and condensate FPSO.
TechnipAngola - EngenhariaLimitada: Valve Improvement Project – Angola – Offshore - Project Manager
I project managed the engineering and procurement for brownfield replacement of manual and pneumatic
actuated ball, gate, butterfly, DB&B and globe valves (total of 105 valves) on the BP Greater Plutonio FPSO,
ranging in size (3/4" to 20") and rating (#150 to #2500).
Technip Angola - Engenharia Limitada: GtP Water Injection Define & Execute – Angola – Offshore –
Project Manager
Project management of detailed design of brownfield piping modifications to re-instate the WI system to 3-

Onshore - Project Engineer
Genesis scope was to develop to FEED level the design for the Baird Gas storage project . Gas will be
supplied from / delivered to the National Grid (NTS) via new facilities located within the existing Perenco
Bacton Terminal. The Baird reservoir is a depleted reservoir located in the Block 49/23 approximately 86 km
east of the Perenco onshore terminal at Bacton.

(PVEP-ALGERIA). The BRS field lies within the Blocks 433a & 416b in the Touggourt Permit of Algeria,
approximately 1200 km by road from the Algerian ports. The concept for the surface facilities is a standalone
development for the BRS field. The gathering system comprises well sites and a field network of flow lines
routing production from individual wells via remote manifold stations and production trunklines to a central
processing facility (CPF).

Project Engineer
Oseberg East
This project had similar requirements to the Jotun equipment, with significantly more onerous requirements
such as uprated working pressure and temperature, and new technical solutions such as oil production from
the wellhead annulus. Running this and the Jotun project simultaneously, supervised a team of ten engineers
and draftsmen.
Project Engineer
Jotun B
Having technical responsibility for the whole project. This consisted of 18/3/4” contact wellheads with 5-1/8”
5000psi oil production trees, 6-3/8” 5000psi water injection trees, and 9” 3000psi water production trees with
1000kVA power cables from downhole pumps. The design objective was to not only meet the Jotun project
requirements, but to design with a view to this design being offered as a standard system on a worldwide
basis
Design Engineer
Shearwater
Worked on this project designing and prototype testing the 6-3/8” Xmas tree for high pressure (15000psi) and
high temperature (350ºF) service. This was a high profile project within Shell as it was the world’s first 6-3/8”
HPHT tree, and the design was commended in the 1998 Expro technology and innovation awards.
Liverpool Bay
Worked on this project as part of the design team, designing the world’s first platform horizontal tree.
Worked on a number of other projects, mainly involving detail design of subsea valves and hydraulic
actuators.
Completed IMechE accredited graduate training programme and gained chartered engineer status.
