2. DEFINITION OF ABORTION
Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by
removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus
before it can survive out side the uterus. An
abortion that occurs without intervention is
known as a miscarriage or spontaneous
abortion.
4. THREATENED ABORTION
•A term threatened abortion is used when a
pregnancy is complicated by vaginal
bleeding before the 20th week.
5. INEVITABLE ABORTION
•In case of inevitable abortion, a clinical
pregnancy is complicated by both vaginal
bleeding and cramp-like lower abdominal
pain.
6. INCOMPLETE ABORTION
•In addition to vaginal bleeding,cramp-like
pain,and cervical dilatation, an incomplete
abortion involves the passage of products of
conception, often described by the women
as looking like pieces of skin or liver.
7. COMPLETE ABORTION
•In complete abortion, after passage of all the
products of conception, the uterine
contractions and bleeding abate, the cervix
closes, and then uterus is smaller than the
period of amenorrhea would suggest.
8. MISSED ABORTION
•Is used when the fetus has died but is
retained in the uterus, usually for some
weeks. After 16 weeks gestation, dilatation
and curettage may become a problem.
10. THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF ABORTION
•Medication abortion – also known as the
“abortion pill,” is when you take medicines
that you get from a trained doctor or nurse
to end an early pregnancy.
11. IN CLINIC ABORTION
•In clinic abortion – is
done in health center by
trained doctors and
nurse. Both kinds of
abortion are safe and
effective.
