Gynecologist
• A physician why specializes in the
treatment of woman are called a
Gynecologist.
• A gynecologist treats conditions
and diseases of the female
reproductive system.
• Gynecologist do such procedures
as pelvic examinations, pap
(papanicolaou) smears, prescribing
anti contraception's and more.
• There are OB GYN which is a an
obstetrics gynecologist that
specializes in females who are
pregnant.
Three Stages of Labor and Delivery
1. Dilation stage:
This begins with uterine
contractions that press the
fetus against the cervix
causing it to dilate 10cm and
become thin.
2. Expulsion Stage:
This is the stage in labor
during which the baby is
delivered.
3. Placental Stage:
This is the final stage of labor
that takes place after the
delivery of the infant . The
uterus resumes contractions
and the placenta detaches
from the uterine wall and is
delivered through the vagina.
Total Abdominal
Hysterectomy- bilateral Salpingo-oophorectomy
• This is the the removal
of the entire uterus,
cervix, both ovaries,
and both uterine
tubes.
• This procedures is
usually preform when
cancer appears in the
female reproductive
system to remove the
cancer or to prevent it
from spreading.
