Editor's Notes
Show of hands – how many of you are on Facebook? How many of you are on Twitter? How many of you have received or sent text messages? Who has a blog? Who reads blogs?Overview:Organizing StrategyWhat Mobile Messaging isWho uses Mobile messagingBest practicesAn example of how we’ve used mobile messaging at the NAACP.
Microblogging: creating short status updates on a social media platform.
Don’t be afraid to mention people who talk to you or who cover the work your branch does in your community. For instance if a reporter writes a story on an event you held, you can use twitter to personally thank them for covering the event.
Tweeting once every hour or two is fine – quickest way to lose followers is tweeting too much
As I said earlier, in addition to a few in-person trainings I will also be doing webinars on Mondays and Wednesdays. The trainings will be ongoing with the goal of increasing our voter registrations online.Let’s talk a little bit about the process for mobile messaging campaigns. If you’d like to send out a mobile message, I will be the point-person for that. There is a Mobile Message Request Form that I can provide you with…you can fill out the form, send it back to me, and then we’ll move forward. The form includes your branch, the message you’d like to send out, and what day and time you are sending out the message.
