• Pop art is distinctive art movement that emerged during the mid to late 1950s
and began to flourish during the 1960s with artists such as andy worhal and roy
Lichtenstein taking inspiration from popular and commercial culture to help
create their own and unique designs.
• The movement began as a revolt against the dominant approaches to art and
culture with many young artists feeling that what they were taught in art school
and show in museums had nothing to do with their lives or what they saw around
them instead they decided to turn sources such as Hollywood movies,
advertising, product packaging, pop music and comic books for their artistic
imagery.
• However many modernist critic were horrified by pop art when it emerged, and
their creators use of “low subject matters and by the uncritical treatment of it”
but eve with these critic's pop art would be the first manifestation of
postmodernism.

• pop art began in new York with the pop artist andy worhol, roy linchestien, james Rosenquist
and claes Oldenburg whose art focused and celebrated commonplace objects and people of
everyday life rather than traditional themes such as morality, mythology and classic history
like artists of the past,
• The aim of the pop art movement was to blur the line between high art and low culture the
idea being that there is no hierarch of culture and that art may borrow from any source.
• During its time pop art was seen to embrace the post world war 2 manufacturing and media
boom with some critics saying that the pop arts choice of imagery as an enthusiastic
endorsement of the capitalist market and the good it circulated whilst other say that there
are element of cultural critique in the pop artist elevation of the everyday to high art with the
message being that art is just as much of a commodity as everything else.
5. • During the late 50s when pop art was starting to become more popular
many started to see pop art as a reflection of society at the time as now
there was more of an emphasis on looking to the future such as movies
and brands rather than looking into the past like history or mythology
which is shown through the pop artist use of common items for sculptures
and comic styled portiats.
• Pop art was very distinguishable at the time and was easy to tell who made
what by the art forms use of brash visual effects ,simplified relations
between colour and form, dynamic pictoral rhythm, optical clarity and high
speed image legibility.
• One theme that is also very noticeable in pop art is that of suggestive
themes with some pieces contain women or men either naked or half
naked

• One thing that is very noticeable within the works of each pop artists
as each of their styles share on particular thing which is that of there
simplicity with many pieces using simple colour rather than detailed
shading for each particular part of a piece and sharp outlines.
• Another thing that is noticeable in pop art is some pieces are very
abstract using twisting shapes and perspective and meaning it’s more
up to the viewer to piece together what the artist is trying to say with
their specific piece.
• Some artists such as peter saul did pop art pices that came of as
parody with one of his pieces socity 1964 with many mundane object
being alive and having a very cartoony style

14. Task 5 – Evaluation – Problem Solving
• Describe three problems you faced in your project and how you solved these
• 1 one problem I had during this product was trying to find two books for my
physical research however they way I solved this was by asking the librians that
worked there were exactly I could find the books I was looking for.
• 2 another problem I had during this project was what kind of art styles I would
use for the poster and to fix that I went over to my planning and added certain
pop artists and chose the styles that spoke to me most.
• 3 a final problem I encountered during my project was since I am using a different
type of computer compared to last year I wasn't quite sure how to get them to
work or download them so to solve that I asked my teacher who kindly showed
my how to download font and to get them to work on the computer.

15. Task 5 – Evaluation – Working with others
• Choose three aspects of your production where you worked well with your team and this
benefited the project

• one aspect where I worked well with my team and it benefited the project was when we were
working on the collective ideas as our communication allowed us to bring our idea together so
when we made out poster each would share a similarity
• 2
• another aspect where I worked well with my team and it benefited the project was during the
production of our work as we made sure to keep each poster similar to each other.
• 3
• A final aspect where I worked well with my team and it benefited the project was were we
decided who would do what research as my partner would do the media based research whilst I
did the physical research.

16. Task 5 – Evaluation - Feedback
• Discuss the feedback you received from your tutor during the project
and how you used this to improve the project
• One piece of feedback I received from my tutor about my project was
to make the image more closer to the theme I was working with
which was pop art and after learning how to change the hue and
colour of an image I was able to make my final poster look similar to
the product it was promoting.

20. Task 6 - How do you learn best?
• Explain some of the ways you think you learn best [refer to the VAK
questionnaire results in tutorial]:
A way I learn best is by studying a topic visually like for example taking
down notes or being shown how to do something visual like visual
examples and finally or watching videos that explain the topic which
is back up by the VAK questionnaire as the results I got show that I am
more of a visual learner.

21. Task 6 - How do you learn best?
• What makes it hard for you to study?
One thing that makes it hard for me to study is when there is to much noise
around as I gets so distracting it takes my mind off of what I am studying.
Another thing that make it hard for me to study is more or less to do with the
interest I have in the topic being studied as it is a case were I will remember
something more easily if it is interesting to me.
• What strategies do you think would benefit your studies?
A strategy I can use to benefit my studies is finding a way to make remembering
the topic I don’t have interest in more interesting for me so I can remember it
easier.
Another strategy I can use to benefit my studies is by finding somewhere quite
either at home or college so I am not distracted when doing my studies.
