2. YOUTUBE
We were also able to
observe how many views
our videos received
showing the popularity of
our production. On top of
this the comment feature
allowed us to gain
feedback from a wider
audience of viewers.
We uploaded all our
films to our group
YouTube channel. This
includes our
preliminary tasks,
storyboard animatic,
rough cuts and final
production.
3. BLOGGER
We used blogger collaboratively
as a team to upload and share
our work. Blogger has several
features which make it very
useful for amateur film makers
like us.
The comment facility allowed
us to gain feedback from
teachers and our fellow
students on our work.
The index at the side allows
for easy organisation of our
work and quick navigation
across our blog.
The homepage showed us
our list of tasks and gave us
exemplar work from previous
years.
The comment facility allowed
us to gain feedback from
teachers and our fellow
students on our work.
Through blogger we were
able to embed clips and
uploads visuals which gave
our blog a multimedia
aspect.
The edit feature allowed us
to improve based on the
feedback we were given from
our teachers and colleagues.
4. Prezi
Through Prezi were able to
upload and share professional
looking presentations to the
world wide web.
For example our pitch was
presented through the use of
Prezi. This enabled it to be
more dynamic as it has the
ability to embed multimedia
i.e. secondary research,
audience research and
soundtrack.
I also used
Prezi to
present my
research into
other horror
films from
similar genres
The ability to
navigate through
different frames
gives the
presentation a
more fluid style.
5. Editing
We edited all our films using Adobe Premiere
Elements 9. This is an off the shelf light version
utilising a timeline.
In order to colour grade our footage to connote a darker more sinister
mood, to do this we added an effect called image control by dragging
and dropping the effect onto the timeline. Then by “editing the effect”
we lowered the brightness and darkened the hue.
Whilst Hannah worked on the blog Callum and I overlaid some non-
diegetic audio onto our production. We listened to several different
sound effects before deciding on a droning sound to overlay our
chanting because… and inserted them onto our timeline.
I inserted the titles into our production and chose when and where to
put them based on similar production “Insidious”s ordering and timing.
We made a decision to overlay our title onto the video and then
resized them based on importance of role.
7. Filming
During our filming we faced
many technical difficulties.
Our batteries had to be
recharged multiple times and
from our first shoot we learned
that bringing a spare was
essential.
On top of this we also learnt
that bringing multiple memory
cards would be beneficial as we
used 2.
Our team also fought a battle
with nature as the lighting
proved a challenge.
In one of our crucial shots we
had an error which ruined the
take. Hannah left the two
tripods in the shot.
When we were trying to shoot
the mirror shots we also had the
issue of trying to get the camera
out of shot.
