2. Born in Paragould, Arkansas, I learned at a
young age that I wanted to be involved in the
Sportscasting Field. Professional Wrestling was
the first thing that caught my eye, and the
competition and storytelling developed into a
passion for sports in general, ranging from
Football to Mixed Martial Arts to Soccer. I was
initially going to attend Arkansas State
University, a college only 30 minutes from my
hometown, but I decided that I needed to take
of leap of faith, so I enrolled in the
Sportscasting program at Full Sail University
and began to develop the skills I’ll need to
eventually serve as on-air talent for a sports
network.

11. BRAND POSITION
I want to provide a voice for a part of America that seems
to have a lack of representation amongst popular media,
which is those born and raised in the southern portion of
America. I’ve always been taught that leaving my
hometown was next to impossible, and that my voice
would reserve me to “local TV.” Not only do I want to beat
the odds, but I want to create the opportunity for many
after me to have those same opportunities.

14. Jackson McCarty
Many people feel that where they come from
is a major obstacle to achieving their lifelong
goals. I hope to prove that wrong, by showing
that it’s not necessarily the amount of opportunities
that you’re given, but how you handle the opportunities
that you get. By being a voice for those who don’t start in major cities, I feel I
can fulfill that role well, and can be a more traditional model of the “American
Dream.” Simply with my leap of faith by moving here for college, I’ve
witnessed some of my hometown friends take similar choices in doing what’s
best for them and not necessarily what’s expected, and I hope to bring that
same level of motivation to the next level of my career.
