1. How does your media product
represent different social
groups?
2. With my Media product, I have created a music magazine. With this magazine I am
trying to represent a group of young adults aged between ages 15-26, I have chosen
this age as this is the typical age range of the people who listen to the genre of my
magazine, which is indie/alternative or underground music, I think I have portrayed my
genre well through the use of the mise en scene in my photographs, they all follow a
similar pattern of outdoors or stylised backgrounds such as my cover photo which has
a brick wall as it’s background, I think this reflects my genre well as it’s the type of
background for a photograph that you would associate with this genre of music.
3. Throughout my magazine I have also used slang and colloquial language, I have done
this because informal writing to the audience makes it more friendly and allows them to
become familiar with the magazine and therefore they feel more relaxed and as though
they are having a conversation.
I have also used exclamation marks throughout my work as I think that this also will
make the language in my magazine more colloquial and therefore makes the magazine
more fun and it would allow my target audience to relate to the magazine further.
Another point as to why my magazine represents different social media groups is that
the models on my front cover are all dressed appropriate to the genre of the
magazine, I would associate the colours and the style with Indie music and therefore
this, again, makes the magazine more realistic and professional.
