3. Research
• Strengths.
• I researched some horror movies to help me with new ideas. I collected some movies and picked
some characters and storylines to mix together and create my own horror movie.
• I questioned my audience and asked what they liked to watch: murder, stalker, mental and
psychological. I created my film based on the audience feedback.
• I interviewed two people and they give me more details about what they wanted me to include to
make a better film than others because for an example they want to location, characters, type of
deaths and kills items like knife, rope, gun and else. I agreed with them.
• I researched some trailers to help me create my own trailer. I collected some trailers and I picked
some trailers similar to my trailer like fade, shots and background.
• I researched some horror posters might be a help to design new my own poster. I collected some
posters to create my poster and I used an image from Google because I want my image to look really
scary and the man who wears a hoodie shows his character. But the title and sub-heading are
created in my own words.
• Weaknesses.
• I collected only three movies so as not to confuse myself
• I only asked 10 people, who were my audience, for 10 questions.
• My interview might be biased as they may tell me something different from my audience.
• I created my trailer in last minutes because I almost forgot to makes a trailer.
• I used a copyright image from the internet.
4. Planning
• Strengths.
• I looked at lots of fonts and took the time to choose one font. I chose a font that really stood out to
me because it matched the storyline of my film and poster.
• I used the internet called DaFont for my title because it had lots of different shapes of fonts, for
example; comedy, horror, Christmas and arts. I picked some horror fonts that I liked and I collected
some fonts for my horror film. I checked all the fonts to match my horror film to make it look scary.
• I picked some very interesting and attractive scenes to show in my trailer. Some scenes I didn’t want
to include so as not to spoil the surprise until they watch the full film properly.
• I created the background, title and sub-heading. I used the same website, DaFont to create my own
title. I like the title, it looks more scary. I used the film Halloween’s title which shows scratching and
blood. The colour I used was red and white so it is easy to read against the black background and it
matched my horror poster and film because that shows how my film links to the horror genre.
• I did not show the surprise ending, who dies and who is the stranger. If I showed this it would spoil it
for the audience.
• Weaknesses.
• I did not want to chose one font straight away without looking at the others because if I chose one
by mistake and they will not be interested or I may hate it.
• Only a few images and fonts is not enough visual planning because that might make it difficult to
create a new idea. I prefer to collect lots of images to help me make a decision.
• My poster is mostly black with a few words because the poster always comes first before the trailer
and my audience will start to become interested and want to see my trailer.
5. Time Management• Strengths.
• My time management is under control - I filmed in two day and I edited my film in about 4 days.
• I have used Premiere before so it was easy to keep on track so I edited my first horror film in
about 4 days.
• I wrote my script in about 2 days starting with a first draft.
• My trailer is very brief compared to my film because the trailer is just a teaser to show to my
audience to makes them want to see full film.
• I made the poster in about 2 days. This was the first time I used Photoshop for makes a poster.
• Weaknesses.
• My film is slightly too long.
• Some of the scenes are too long.
• Subtitles take too long to put in the edit because I want them to run in sync with the dialogue.
• I looked through all my clips but this took too long to pick some best ones because all my scenes
are long. This took me about 1 hour to complete.
• My trailer should be a maximum of 1-2 minutes. But my trailer is 3 minutes because I picked
slightly more scenes because I really like to show what happened.
• I created my poster a bit too slowly because I was experimenting.
• I have some problem with the days because I was through doing filming in one day. But some
actors began to be silly, too much chatting and lots of bloopers. That’s why I must film again the
next day like half filming each two days.
6. Technical Qualities• Strengths.
• My film is very different from the others because I don’t want to copy from the films I have
used in research.
• But only some of my characters have similarities because I picked some character that you
would expect to see in a horror film: stalker, murder and stranger.
• My deaths are also similar to my researched films: broken neck, stabbings and slashed
storylines.
• I want my trailer have dynamic and fast moving shots, changing the image all the time. I used
transitions from the Premiere for lots of different fades. I used the editing transition called
cross dissolve.
• My poster uses an image that people will link to the horror genre.
• I created the short film, trailer, poster and script in 3 different software. I used the premiere
software for I created my film and trailer. I used the Photoshop software for I created my
poster. Also I used the Word software for I created the script.
• Weaknesses.
• Sometimes I feel unsure with Premiere because I have difficulty creating subtitles. I created
subtitles but they had different sizes and colours.
• I feel unsure about the camera because my camera was shaking. I want a smooth stable scene
like a real movie which means I need a wheel board where the camera stands and help to
move around smoothly.
• My trailer all the same as cross dissolves because I can’t find out some amazing transitions
and there is most their presentation slide transition.
• The image of the hooded figure has been used many times.
• I not used the studio spaces because I used filming in location like outside, home and else.
7. Aesthetic Qualities• Strengths.
• Yes, my film looks really good. My family and friends love it! Because my film is very much like a real
movie with technical editing and my camerawork.
• I created my own film, I wrote my script and I directed my film because I was start idea of these
short film and to proof that I not copies from others.
• Also, some of my friends helped me with the camera work when I was acting because if no-one
stand behind the camera might someone steal it or no move the camera.
• My trailer looks really amazing because it is full of action. The trailer shares the same aesthetic
qualities as the main film. My trailer is very similar others trailer like fast change shots and
transitions.
• My poster looks more scary because the image looks more creepy. This is because the hooded figure
is more covered and the image is darker.
• All the actors who was wearing the costumes look very matching because the costume to show
match the characters like chav, Goths, posh, rough, poor, rich and normal. The costume is very
important because the costume gives the audience spots and know what is their character look like.
• Weaknesses.
• My camera was sometimes blurry and shaking so I would need to put it in auto focus.
• Some acting was not good enough because they had not read my script properly and didn’t listen
when I told them what to do.
• Some strangers walked in the background during filming. That is a problem because I don’t want
people in my background. I can’t tell people to not walk through the filming because we were in a
public area.
• My trailer is a bit boring because all transitions are same and no different interesting transition.
• My image bit blurry and could be brighter.
8. Audience Appeal
• Strengths.
• I would love my audience to watch my film because I know they really want to see it. I like to see
what their reaction about my very first horror film.
• So, if my audience want to watch my film then I will make it available at college, home and work like
Email, FaceBook, Twitter and YouTube for everybody to access.
• I received feedback from my audience for what they wanted me to create in my own horror film. I
must listen to what they want or don’t want.
• The trailer is important because my trailer can makes my audience more attracting to want to watch
my film. Trailer can tease my audience about bit story of my film.
• Before the trailer I would like to show the poster to make my audience feel interested and
surprised.
• My film can used both the gender because my film have a same as the gender.
• My audience age range is only from 15 to 25 because that was horror target age range.
• My film is totally Belonger.
• My audience teenagers is suitable my film because my film have a teenagers not family, adults or
elderly. My film is taught to teenagers for learning how to not meet any stranger like add FaceBook,
add phone number or add them without know who they are.
• Weaknesses.
• The feedback is important because if I create my own film without their feedback they may not
want to watch it.
• My audience age range is only 16 to 19 but the horror movie target age range is from 15 to 25 a 10
year age range. My demographic is only 3 years, 20 to 25 is missing.
• I didn’t asked them the questions or mentions about trailer and poster because I want focus about
my film.
