INDUSTRIAL TRAINING REPORT

Introduction:
 Connaught Residency is upcoming Built-Up
Independent Residential Floors with around 250
units.
 On Plot size of around 250 sq.yds. (209.03 sq. mtr.)
(33'x68') having G+2 with super area of approx. 1750
sq.ft.
Project Snapshot :
 An integral part of TDI City-I (300 acres
approx township) in Sectors 74-A, 92, 116,
117, 118 & 119. Introducing the Smart City
concept.
Designed excellently to ensure maximum
visibility and natural sunlight for each floor.
Spread over land abutting towards master

Equipments used:
Transit mixer:


It is device that homogeneously combines
cement, aggregate such as sand or gravel, and
water to form concrete.
Transit mixer is truck mounted by a revolving
drum to
volume
mix the components. For smaller
works portable concrete mixers are
often used so that the concrete can be made at
the construction site.
Back hoe:
 A backhoe, is a piece of excavating equipment
or digger consisting of a digging bucket on the
end of a two-part articulated arm.
 They are typically mounted on the back of a
tractor or front loader. The section of the arm
closest to the vehicle is known as the boom,
and the section which carries the bucket is
known as the dipper or dipper stick.
Concrete Pump:


The main type of concrete pump is either
mounted on a truck and known as a truck-
mounted concrete pump or placed on a trailer,
and it is commonly referred to as a line pump or
trailer-mounted concrete pump.
This pump requires steel or rubber concrete
placing hoses to be manually attached to the
outlet of the machine.
BRICK WORK
Procedure
Excavation:
 Excavation was carried out both
manually as well as mechanically.
 Adequate precautions are taken to see
that the excavation operations do not
effect the adjoining structures.
O.P.C:
 After the process of excavation, laying of
Ordinary Portland Cement concrete that is OPC
is done. A layer of 75 mm was made in such a
manner that it was not mixed with the soil.
 It provides a solid base for the isolated
foundation and a mix of 1:3:6 that is, 1 part of
cement to 3 parts of fine aggregates and 6
parts of coarse aggregates by volume were
used in it.
LAYING OF FOUNDATION
 At the site, Isolated footings are most commonly
used footings for Reinforced cement concrete
column because it is simple and most
economical. An isolated footing is used to
support a single column. Isolated footings are
independent footings which are provided for
each column.
 Columns are not closely spaced.

 The Safe bearing capacity
of the soil is generally high.
This type of footing is used when
Loads on footings are less.
FORM WORK


Forms or moulds or shutters are the
receptacles in which concrete is placed, so that
it will have the desired shape or outline when
hardened.
Once the concrete develops adequate strength,
the forms are removed. Forms are generally
made of the materials like timber, plywood,
steel, etc.
Scaffolding/props used:



Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to
support people and material in the construction
or repair of buildings and other large structures.
It is usually a modular system of metal pipes or
tubes, although it can be from other materials.
The key elements of a scaffold are standards,
ledgers and transoms.
CONCRETING





Type of Cement Used :O.P.C. (A.C.C)
Grade of concrete in slabs and beams :M-25
Grade of concrete in coloumns:M-25
Grade of concrete in P.C.C work:M-10
Grade of concrete in Isolated foundation:
M-25


Concrete was made RMC Plant.



Capacity of a transit mixer :6m3 Aggregates
sizes :20 mm ,10mm
Fine aggregate (sand): 5.35% silt content
From there it wascarried up to the site with
the transit mixer.
REINFORCEMENT


Fe-520 grade of steel was used.
High strength deformed bars conforming to
IS: 456:2000, gradeFe 500, indicate yield
stresses 500 N/mm2 are commonly used.
Columns
•1864 kg steel in beams,
•In Connaught residency, each villa contains
1152 kg steel in slabs.
• 271 kg steel in staircase.
•Each villa has 10 number of columns and
contains 629 kg steel.
•16mm diameter bars are used and has 25 rings
of 8mm diameter in each column.
• The dimensions of the column are 1’X2’.
•TMT 520 steel is used.
Ring/Tie bars:


8 mm dia. bars were used as ring.
No of rings 25
Beams:





Beams were of sizes 8”X9” of dia 12mm.
Main Reinforcement: Mostly bars of dia 20
and 16, 8 mm were provided.
Shear Reinforcement:
Stirrup was of dia. 8mm.
Stirrups were provided for the shear
reinforcement ,1 st stirrup is at 40 mm from face
of the supporting member.
Spacing of the stirrup was upto 2*(dia of the
main bar)
Slab:
 Main bars used were of 12 mm at the top and
also at the bottom.



Chairs were provided at different locations to
provide the spacing required between the top
and bottom reinforcement.
Thickness of the slab was 100 mm.
Note: No shear reinforcement is provided in the
slab.
Cover block:


Cover blocks are placed to prevent the steel
rods from touching the shuttering plates and
there by providing a minimum cover and fix the
reinforcements as per the design drawings.
Covers should be made of cement sand mortar
(1:3). Ideally, cover should have strength similar
to the surrounding concrete, with the least
perimeter so that chances of water to penetrate
through periphery will be minimized.

CONCLUSION



This training is comprehensive in filling the gap
between the theoretical & practical studies
At the site there was a good management
system between the contractor, the consultant,
and the client.
I found that there was good understanding
between the supervisor and the workers,
though works are interdependent but there
were no contradiction between them.

  • 2. Introduction:  Connaught Residency is upcoming Built-Up Independent Residential Floors with around 250 units.  On Plot size of around 250 sq.yds. (209.03 sq. mtr.) (33'x68') having G+2 with super area of approx. 1750 sq.ft.
  • 3. Project Snapshot :  An integral part of TDI City-I (300 acres approx township) in Sectors 74-A, 92, 116, 117, 118 & 119. Introducing the Smart City concept. Designed excellently to ensure maximum visibility and natural sunlight for each floor. Spread over land abutting towards master Plan roads.

  • 5. Equipments used: Transit mixer:   It is device that homogeneously combines cement, aggregate such as sand or gravel, and water to form concrete. Transit mixer is truck mounted by a revolving drum to volume mix the components. For smaller works portable concrete mixers are often used so that the concrete can be made at the construction site.

Back hoe:  A backhoe, is a piece of excavating equipment or digger consisting of a digging bucket on the end of a two-part articulated arm.  They are typically mounted on the back of a tractor or front loader. The section of the arm closest to the vehicle is known as the boom, and the section which carries the bucket is known as the dipper or dipper stick.

Concrete Pump:   The main type of concrete pump is either mounted on a truck and known as a truck- mounted concrete pump or placed on a trailer, and it is commonly referred to as a line pump or trailer-mounted concrete pump. This pump requires steel or rubber concrete placing hoses to be manually attached to the outlet of the machine.

  • 12. Procedure Excavation:  Excavation was carried out both manually as well as mechanically.  Adequate precautions are taken to see that the excavation operations do not effect the adjoining structures.
  • 13. O.P.C:  After the process of excavation, laying of Ordinary Portland Cement concrete that is OPC is done. A layer of 75 mm was made in such a manner that it was not mixed with the soil.  It provides a solid base for the isolated foundation and a mix of 1:3:6 that is, 1 part of cement to 3 parts of fine aggregates and 6 parts of coarse aggregates by volume were used in it.
  • 14. LAYING OF FOUNDATION  At the site, Isolated footings are most commonly used footings for Reinforced cement concrete column because it is simple and most economical. An isolated footing is used to support a single column. Isolated footings are independent footings which are provided for each column.
  • 15.  Columns are not closely spaced.   The Safe bearing capacity of the soil is generally high. This type of footing is used when Loads on footings are less.

  • 17. FORM WORK   Forms or moulds or shutters are the receptacles in which concrete is placed, so that it will have the desired shape or outline when hardened. Once the concrete develops adequate strength, the forms are removed. Forms are generally made of the materials like timber, plywood, steel, etc.

  • 19. Scaffolding/props used:    Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to support people and material in the construction or repair of buildings and other large structures. It is usually a modular system of metal pipes or tubes, although it can be from other materials. The key elements of a scaffold are standards, ledgers and transoms.

  • 21. CONCRETING      Type of Cement Used :O.P.C. (A.C.C) Grade of concrete in slabs and beams :M-25 Grade of concrete in coloumns:M-25 Grade of concrete in P.C.C work:M-10 Grade of concrete in Isolated foundation: M-25
  • 22.   Concrete was made RMC Plant.    Capacity of a transit mixer :6m3 Aggregates sizes :20 mm ,10mm Fine aggregate (sand): 5.35% silt content From there it wascarried up to the site with the transit mixer.
  • 23. REINFORCEMENT   Fe-520 grade of steel was used. High strength deformed bars conforming to IS: 456:2000, gradeFe 500, indicate yield stresses 500 N/mm2 are commonly used.

Columns •1864 kg steel in beams, •In Connaught residency, each villa contains 1152 kg steel in slabs. • 271 kg steel in staircase. •Each villa has 10 number of columns and contains 629 kg steel. •16mm diameter bars are used and has 25 rings of 8mm diameter in each column. • The dimensions of the column are 1’X2’. •TMT 520 steel is used.

  • 27. Ring/Tie bars:   8 mm dia. bars were used as ring. No of rings 25
  • 28. Beams:      Beams were of sizes 8”X9” of dia 12mm. Main Reinforcement: Mostly bars of dia 20 and 16, 8 mm were provided. Shear Reinforcement: Stirrup was of dia. 8mm. Stirrups were provided for the shear reinforcement ,1 st stirrup is at 40 mm from face of the supporting member. Spacing of the stirrup was upto 2*(dia of the main bar)

  • 30. Slab:  Main bars used were of 12 mm at the top and also at the bottom.    Chairs were provided at different locations to provide the spacing required between the top and bottom reinforcement. Thickness of the slab was 100 mm. Note: No shear reinforcement is provided in the slab.

Cover block:   Cover blocks are placed to prevent the steel rods from touching the shuttering plates and there by providing a minimum cover and fix the reinforcements as per the design drawings. Covers should be made of cement sand mortar (1:3). Ideally, cover should have strength similar to the surrounding concrete, with the least perimeter so that chances of water to penetrate through periphery will be minimized.

CONCLUSION    This training is comprehensive in filling the gap between the theoretical & practical studies At the site there was a good management system between the contractor, the consultant, and the client. I found that there was good understanding between the supervisor and the workers, though works are interdependent but there were no contradiction between them.
