SETTING OUT FOR POSITION
ALL POSITION OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENT ARE MARKED OUT USING TOTAL STATION (REFLECT0RLESS
OR 360 DEGREE REFLECTOR IN CASES OF CURVED BEAMS)
FORMWORK
DOMINO SHUTTERING PANEL WAS USED ( PVC SHUTTERING BOARD ARE USED IN CASES OF CURVED
FORMS)
REINFORCEMENT
VARIOUS REBARS ARE USED WITH RESPECT TO AREA OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENT
30MM BISCUIT ARE TIED AROUND REBARS TO PROVIDE FOR CLEAR COVER
BARS ARE TIED TO EACH OTHER WITH TIE WIRE
CONCRETING
M40 GRADE OF CONCRETE ARE USED FOR ALL COLUMNS AND BEAMS
M35 GRADE OF CONCRETE ARE USED FOR SLABS
M15 GRADE OF CONCRETE ARE USED FOR BLINDING
ANTI- ARE APPLIED ON ALL CONCRETE AFTER FORM REMOVAL
EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE (EPS) ARE PLACE WHERE TWO SLAB MEET , AS EXPANSION JOINT
3. CONSTRUCTION OF COLUMNS SLAB AND BEAMS
COLUMN:
DEFINITION: RCC (Reinforced Cement Cement Concrete) column is a structural
member of RCC framed structured building. Its vertical member which accepts or
carries load from slab and beam directly to the foundation.
MATERIALS USED IN CONSTRUCTION OF COLUMNS:
Cement
Coarse aggregate
Fine aggregate
Steel bar
Water
Shuttering panel
Tie rod and wing knot
wedges
4. SETTING OUT OF COLUMN POSITION
In this stage of works, the location
Of the columns are determined
Practically in Field. It is done by laying rope according to grids
shown in the drawing and then mark the location of columns
related rope.
For neck columns extended through slabs, form panel are
places beside extended reinforcement, where reinforcement
and form work are adjusted with respect to reflector less
reading from total station.
COLUMN REINFORCEMENT WORK
After marking the column locations, we then start
to place reinforcement as instructed in the
structural drawing.
This is described in the drawing as
(C1-12y16mm@200mm c/c)
5. COLUMN FORMWORK
Column formwork is a term used for structures
that are used to support forms or moulds for
poured concrete. Here,
Domino panel is place beside reinforcement.
Column alignment is done using a total station.
Concrete biscuit of 30mm is tied on rebar to
allow for clear cover to reinforcement.
CASTING OF CONCRETE ELEMENTS
Concrete are mixed at batching plant
with various mix design/ratio for various
concrete grade (C10, C15, C20, C30, C35,
C40, C50 etc.)
C40 and C35 column grade was used for
our structural columns. `
6. SLAB
Concrete slab is a structural element which is constructed to create flat and
useful surfaces such as floors. They are commonly supported by beams,
columns, walls or the ground.
FORMWORK
Formwork are created to provide support to the wet concrete until it has gained
sufficient strength.
1) Acrow-prop are placed, arranged and adjusted to designed level
2) Domino shuttering board are placed over the form girder toe retain wet
concrete and give fine smooth finish look.
3) Form girders are placed over them as platform for shuttering panel to be laid
over
4) Oil where applied over domino board for easy formwork removal.
ARRANGEMENT/SPACING OF STEEL BARS
Steel bars diameter and its spacing in the RCC slab is
calculated by designing the slab according to load and span
of the slab. In general
Reinforcing steel bars are placed within the formwork and then
the concrete is poured.
Rebar chairs and biscuit are used to hold the reinforcing steel
bars away from the bottom and sides of the form-work, so that
when the concrete sets it completely envelops the
reinforcement.
7. LAYING OF CONCRETE/CURING
Wet concrete mixed at batch plant with respect to
mix design are transported in concrete bucket and
carried by stationary crane to place where concrete is
laid. The mix is mechanically mixed and vibrated using
the poker vibrator after laying on the slab.
Curing is done after laying the RCC slab, for full
strength.
8. BEAM
A beam is a structural element that is capable of withstanding load primarily by resisting against bending. The bending
force induced into the material of the beam as a result of the external loads, self-load, span and external reactions to
these loads, is called bending moment.
According to work arrangement, laying of RCC beam can be done in 4 stages
Formwork
Bending and binding steel bar
Laying of cement concrete
FORMWORK
Formwork is to retain concrete, therefore formwork and shuttering is
required.
1) Domino shuttering board are used to create mould for concrete.
2) Woods are nailed to the board to serve as wedges.
3) Tie rod and wing knot are used to hold shuttering board together from
both ends
4) Woods are placed at 300mm interval to avoid board from breaking
when wet concretes are laid.
9. BENDING, BINDING AND ARRANGEMENT OF
STEEL BAR
At the time of designing the slab, it is
considered that concrete is strong in
compressive strength but weak in tensile
strength, so therefore to make the structure
safe against tensile stress, steel bars are
provided.
LAYING OF CEMENT CONCRETE
concrete mixed at batch plant with
respect to mix design and ratio are
been transported with the help of the
crane using concrete bucket to place
where concrete is laid. The mix is
mechanically mixed and vibrated
using the poker vibrator after laying on
the beam.
Curing is done after laying the RCC
slab, for full strength
