2. Inequality in Education:
● The higher we move in the education
level, the more the girls go missing from
it.
● A boy’s education is the family’s hope to
move up the financial and social ladder.
● Education for girls, however, was less
important financially, since they were
unlikely to contribute to the family’s
income
3. Illiteracy in India is worse amongst women.
Over 50% of the women are illiterates
● There has been a persistent general
tendency at the global level towards
higher rates of illiteracy for girls than for
boys.
● The inequality, caused by both cultural
and economic factors, is obvious, and the
improvements in girls’ literacy rates are
occurring very slowly.
4. Reason for inequality:
● There is a societal pressure for women to
keep an eye on marriage from a young age.
● From a very young age we are taught that
marriage is the only important thing in a
girl’s life.
● Moreover, money spent on girl’s education
is considered waste.
● The same money will never be considered
waste if given as dowry.
5. ● With parents unwilling to sponsor higher
education for girls, they have to kill their
dreams and settle for less.
● A girl after 21 years is made to choose
between her career and marriage.
● Unfortunately many of them choose
marriage since they can’t go against their
parents and also they cannot fund their
education by themselves.
6. What if a girl chooses career over
marriage?
● “She is very ambitious” is not a compliment in
our culture.Aggressive and hard-charging
women violate unwritten rules about
acceptable social conduct.
● Men are continually applauded for being
ambitious and powerful and successful, but
women who display these same traits often
pay a social penalty.
● Female accomplishments come at a cost.
7. Proposed Solution:
● Selecting girl students who want to pursue
higher studies solely on the basis of merit,
without considering their caste and
providing scholarships to them.
● Many schemes and scholarships are
provided currently to encourage girls, but
they are not sufficient.
● Each and every girl must be given an
opportunity to showcase her talent.
8. Implementation of solution
● Super 30 is an educational program
started by Anand Kumar in Patna, Bihar.
● Every year he selects 30 meritorious
students and trains them for the IIT-JEE.
● In the similar way, if every state starts
training girls for GATE,GRE,CAT or in
their area of interest without any
compensation, the rate of higher
education among girls will increase.
9. ● Once the girl gets into a reputed
university, she must be given proper
scholarship bearing her educational and
living expenses.
● The mindset of the people must be
changed and the importance of higher
education must be explained to them.
● Everyday, we see many cases in which
women are raped, sexually harassed at
their work place.
●
10. ● Only a woman can understand the plight
of other women. So if the higher post in a
company are occupied by women they can
create rules ensuring safety of their
colleagues.
● The more the women in power, the less
they become vulnerable.
● India needs more powerful women like
Indra Nooyi, Naina LAl Kidwai and Kiran
Bedi for its development.
