2. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
 My name is Daisy Osodo
 I am 19 years old
 I am a survivor of the Naivasha 2007 Post Election violence
where my family and I lost everything except ourselves.
 I am a first born of 3 children all of them being girls
 It is my responsibility as a first born child to be an example to
my younger sisters and other people who may look up to me
as a role model.
 How they see me live will affect their perception of life in the
long run.
 As a young woman I have to plan for my life and make
informed choices. Choices that will allow me to pursue my
dreams and make a life for myself and my family.
 Planning for my life will help me avoid Social, health and
financial problems that I may not be equipped enough with
life skills to handle.

3. FACE OF NAIVASHA
 On a day to day basis I run my own initiative called FACE OF NAIVASHA.
 The group is based in Naivasha my hometown located 90km from the
capital city of Kenya Nairobi
 We do sensitization campaigns on issues affecting our society e.g.
health &hygiene, rape, innocence of children ETC.
 We do door to door and school to school campaigns to talk to people
on any issue we may be addressing at a particular time in a given area
of the town.
 The group was founded purposely to try and change the image of our
town through Talents and fashion and design
 We use talents, fashion and design to portray messages every now and
then during events to try and educate masses and somehow change
people’s perception of our town and the issues surrounding them.

4. OBJECTIVES OF FACE OF NAIVASHA
 Sensitizing parents on issues affecting children
 Educating masses on needs of children in the society
 Curb teenage pregnancy cases
 Eradicate Sexual and gender based violence
 Peer motivation-with the aim of boosting self esteem
 Promoting socio economic and gender equity in communities
 Laying foundation for development of children especially the
destitute
 Encourage responsible citizenship for the society’s well being
 Build a family empowerment centre in the town to allow
families to bond together during their free time.

5. MY PASSIONS AND FUTURE PLANS
 I am passionate about empowerment campaigns and a chance
to instill new values to a young person’s life or motivate a
group of people to make a difference.
 I love social conferences and any chance that allows me to
meet people from different backgrounds and learn something
new.
 I love activities such as swimming, cycling, playing soccer/
football, reading novels, fashion and modeling, photography
and playing play station games specifically soccer.
 I intend to pursue International Relations on a University level
as soon as I save enough money to attend university.
 As soon as I’m through with my education and have a stable
job I would like to get married and have 3 children.
 I would love for my children to live in a balanced environment
and have a father figure to look after them and teach them
life values.
 I think it is easy to change a child’s perception of life
compared to an adult.

6. -Nowadays there are so many young people engaging in sexual
activities carelessly. They rarely mind their health or well being
-They disregard assumptions that the people they engage sexually
with may be infected with sexually transmitted diseases or may
not give them the support they need should they either get
pregnant or have sexually transmitted diseases.
 This has led to many cases of unwanted pregnancies. These
pregnancies at the end of the day have to be taken care of if they
are to be seen to full term if not aborted.
 If a pregnancy is aborted it could lead to future health risks such
as miscarriages and bareness
 To be a parent I have to be prepared
psychologically, emotionally, physically and financially.
 I want to take my children to good schools, start trust funds for
them even before they are born, be able to feed them well and
take them to good hospitals when they fall sick.
 To do that I have to abstain. If the urge to abstain becomes too
hard then I want to engage I protected sex with a committed
partner.
 Should any consequence arise from this act then he and I will both
be responsible and should combine our efforts to support each
other.

7. MY PERCEPTION OF ME.
 Other than that I am a girl full of good ambitions and beautiful
dreams
 I like to think of myself as a sculptor
 I have the chance to plan what I want, when and where I want it
and why I want it
 Life is not easy for a girl in Africa. We have to work twice hard to
get good opportunities
 And for that reason I am not afraid to take charge and make
things happen for me
 It doesn’t matter how long it will take me to achieve my dreams
but I am willing to work hard and wait.
