Evaluation
Now that I have finally finished IG1 (Film Opening Title Sequence) I can say that I really
enjoyed this topic that consisted over the few months from September to December,
through the course of this topic I have learned a lot of skills that are going help with my next
topic which is Music Video Production but are going to help within the media business if I
ever plan to get a job in the media and obviously my skills of the software I used will
increase as I go on but as a starting project I am really happy about how it went.
To start of I thought I could of done a better job on the editing of the video as it didn’t go
exactly how I wanted it to go which was annoying but I had to go with what I had, some
edits I were changed around due to not being able to do the edit as I wanted though I had
already anticipated that this may happen due to not having good knowledge on the
software so obviously I wouldn’t have been able to get close to how I wanted due to this
setback so I improvised (The neck slice for example) it went quite similar to how I wanted
but I didn’t have the effect to cause a background blur to just the background and not the
actors so I used the time lapse effect to compensate for not being able go as I planned. The
hardest thing to edit was definitely the alleyway scene I (the antagonist) walk down the
alleyway, the reason it was a hard shot to edit was because i had to mask the sky (and only
the sky) alot darker so it would look like it was going night, this meant adjusting the mask in
every single shot it was visible, only once did it mess up so i had to redo the entire mask but
it look good in the finished product.
Though there was one thing I really enjoyed on the editing process which was the actual
credits that appear on screen after every shot, that as a process was really fun and
enjoyable as I really motion graphics more than video editing as the most basic of designs
can be made to look really complex which I just find amazing and this opened up a chance to
experiment with motion graphics and to do as I wanted, though my limit was not to overdo
much due to the genre I had chosen, I may have been able to do a lot more if I had chosen a

comedy or action styled film. Sometimes they wouldn’t work which really was a pain and
sometimes they stopped animating which slowed down the process and just really annoyed
me in general as it took multiple attempts at trying to get them to animate correctly or even
at all.
Lastly my filming, this was by far my most enjoyable but most stressful thing to work on as it
had the most work to do in such a small time. It was really stressful and hard to work with
because I had chosen friends to help out who would just get side-tracked and mess around,
though it was funny it wasn’t suitable at the time as I was in a rush but eventually we got
around it and it did bring a lot of enjoyment to me, even if I had to reshoot it multiple times
due to problems such as bad quality or not suitable lighting. I got through it and that was
what I enjoyed the most. My favourite part about the filming though was being able to be in
control of it however I wanted, I could ask my friend to do such a thing and he would do it
for the purposes of filming and that was really fun. I also really liked using the camera, I was
able to learn how to use it during the process of filming here and obviously I learned how
use it during filming and more I use it more I will learn.
In my opinion i thought the overall project went very well, i managed my time wisely and
got it done within the time allocated. I was most happy with the outcome of the video as in
my opinion it looks like the sort of introduction to a indie movie which can still be as good as
a box office movie, doesn’t matter on what’s in the shots it all matters on the quality of the
shots. If i could change something i would change the props i used in the shots and have it
used like a proper set as it didn’t look as professional i would have hoped
