TECHNOLOGIES
The firsthalf of our filmwasshoton a ‘PanasonicLumix’ videocamera,thisisasimple touse -
bridge camera- of whichwe also usedforthe preliminarytask.We chose touse thisas It is myown
camera therefore we hadmore flexibilityoverwhenandwhere we coulduse it,aswell asthis,it
provideduswith the featureswe neededforthe shotsthatwe were goingtotake.These shots
include close upswhichrequiredmildzoom.However,we chose touse a DSLR to filmthe second
half,alongside usingaboommicrophone aswe were goingtobe filmingoutside where there isalot
of ambientsoundof whichwe didn’twanttofocuson.The boommic allowedustopickup Connors
dialogue alotbetterthanif we hadjust usedmybridge cameraof whichhasno capabilityof
external micattachment.Forthe POV shot,we free-handedthe movementof the cameraof which
was relativelyexperimentalbutnotreallyexperimentalregardingthe use of the techitself.Apart
fromthis,we didn’tfinditnecessarytoexperimentwiththe techaswe wantedastrong sequence of
filmtobe produced.Overall,we have come outof thistask withbetterknowledgeof how touse the
equipmentandwhat ismore suitable forcertainenvironments.
RegardingpostproductioninAdobe PremierPro,we usedmanyfeatureswithinthe programto
developatmosphere andmood –as well asenhance the continuityof the whole film.We addeda
time countand a greyscale filteronthe CCTV sequence tomake itmore distinctivefromthe other
shots.We alsolayeredclips,inthe flashback,togive the illusionthat Joe’scharacterisrecallingwhat
happened.Apartfromthese twomajoraspects,we createdJ-cutsandL-cutsto make the filmmore
continuousaswell asmake it seemmore professionalandalsoaddedtransitionstoblackoncertain
clipsof whichaddedto the overall gloomymood.The text/titleswerehardtomake as we wantedto
have themjumparoundthe screenin a professionalway,similartofilmssuchas‘SE7EN’ - we
managedto dothis bymakingmultiple title clipsandeditedtheminarandomisedsequenceto
produce thisdesiredeffect.

I have usedthe presentationaldevicesof whichIsaw fitthe evaluationbest.Iusedaprezi for
questiontwoasI couldbranch off my ideasandmake eachaspect verydetailed.Iusedword
documentsandPowerPointsforthe remainingpostsof whichIhave includedscreenshotsof myfilm
and otherfilmsonthe marketto compare,these formatswere chosendue tohow theyare easyto
readand upload.Also,withPowerPoint,itiseasytoannotate screenshotsdirectlyandalsomind
map ideas.
The majorityof my researchand planningoriginatedpromwatchingmediaproductionsandusing
the internet(websitessuchasIMDB) to builduponmyknowledge andunderstandingof whata
thrillerfilmshouldentail.ThishelpedalotasI had access to all the informationthatisneededof
whichI believe hadprovedbeneficial inthe finalproduct.Aswell asthis,groupchatsallowed
excessiveplanningaswe couldall talkaboutour ideas(actorsand directors) andcome togetheron
makingfinal decisions.
