Digital SLR camera
A digital slr camera stands for a digital single lens reflex camera and they are the standard
camera choice, being the most popular digital camera out there. They are versatile and
using one can help you take professional photographs of a high quality. As well as this they
have different lens options as you can change the lens of a DSLR camera.
Advantages of filming with an DSLR camera:
īˇ A digital SLR camera gives you better resolution, sharpness and clarity because it
uses a sensor to capture the image.
īˇ You have the option of changing lenses as DSLR cameras usually have
interchangeable lenses.
īˇ Its small and convenient to carry around.
īˇ Easy to point and shoot.
Disadvantages of filming with a DSLR camera:
īˇ DSLR cameras are usually more expensive
īˇ Theyâre complex to work with when you arenât familiar with
them
īˇ They can be quite heavy
īˇ It can be costly to maintain a DSLR camera.

Mobile Phone
There is such a wide range of phones on the market now, so this means recording with
phones is easier now than it ever has been as there are so many phones with different
lenses on the market now. As well as this, phones are the most convenient way to record
videos now as we always have them on our person.
Advantages of filming with a mobile phone:
īˇ Due to its small size its unobtrusive to filmwith
īˇ The accessories to filmwith are commonly cheaper than those for a DSLR camera
īˇ There are some features you can use that you cannot get on a camera such as slow
mo, time-lapse or filters.
īˇ Theyâre convenient as we all usually have them on hand.
Disadvantages of filming with a mobile phone:

easily
īˇ The battery life is shorter on most phones than that of a
normal camera.
īˇ Until youâve finished recording you can't judge if the shot is in
focus
īˇ Mid-way during filming there could be exposure changes as
on most phones the exposure changes automatically.
īˇ Lower resolution than a camera and the quality is usually
lower than a camera too.

360-Degree camera
A 360-degree camera is a camera that captures two images or videos with two lenses, both
with a 180-degree field of view. The camera automatically stitches the two files together.
They are good to use as you can use them to capture a panorama easily as well as capturing
a large visual field.
Advantages of using a 360-Degree camera
īˇ It captures 360 degrees in every direction in one photo or video.
īˇ Gives the ability to ârevisitâ a place or event and
examine the details in 360
īˇ Good to use for marketing.
īˇ Two lenses on each side of it that each capture 200
degrees and overlap.
Disadvantages of using a 360-Degree camera
īˇ The photographer/director appears in the images/video.
īˇ It cannot zoom
īˇ Itâs expensive for something so small.
īˇ Doesnât capture as much detail as a DSLR camera
īˇ Takes time and effort to build quality videos

Drones
3. Drones are great to use as they take high quality videos and images from higher up than we
could ever get with normal cameras. They are good to use for capturing landscapes as well
as making 3D maps and models. They're also good as you can take footage with a drone
from the ground, and you donât need a crew for them
Advantages of using a drone
īˇ Drones are fun to record with
īˇ Theyâre cheaper to use in comparison to using cranes or even manned aircraft
īˇ Drones make it easy to fly across landscapes or to areas
that would have been difficult to access
īˇ Useful for advertising and documentary making.
īˇ The drone market is continuously growing and evolving.
Disadvantages of using a drone
īˇ Theyâre obstructive/Privacy Issues
īˇ They can be dangerous as they can damage property and
injure people
īˇ Battery life can be short on Drones.
īˇ The legislation on drone flight is uncertain and continuously changing.
īˇ Expensive

3D Camera
3D cameras are great to use as they easily capture an immersive frozen in time moment for
stills or even for video content which would be good to use in a documentary as I will be
including stills in my videos.
Advantages of using a 3D camera
īˇ Adds Realism
īˇ Affordable
īˇ Low Power consumption
Disadvantages of using a 3D camera
īˇ Lighting needs to be low
īˇ Results are dimmer than those of a 2D camera
īˇ Everything in the frame will be of sharp focus

GoPro
A GoPro is a sleek and compact camera which can be used to take good quality pictures and
videos. They also have an ultra-wide angle lens as well as a processor and an image sensor
making it an easy to use point and shoot camera essentially.
4. Advantages of using a GoPro
īˇ Their small size makes them convenient to carry around
as they fit into your pocket.
īˇ They are built to travel, able to be used in water.
īˇ They can be used as a point and shoot camera as well as
having a wide spectrum of shooting
Disadvantages of using a GoPro
īˇ They have a short battery life
īˇ As it had a fixed lens, there is no zoom.
īˇ The GoPro had a mediocre low-light performance.

Mirrorless camera
A mirrorless camera is a camera which had an interchangeable lens. They are good to use as
they are lighter as well as being faster and better for videos. As well as this they are more
compact than DSLR cameras however they have less accessories and lenses than a DSLR.
Advantages of using a mirrorless camera
īˇ They are lightweight and compact so they're easy to carry around with you.
īˇ They have in-body stabilization therefore meaning that your videos will be of good
quality
īˇ High-Resolution cameras are built into most mirrorless
cameras meaning
īˇ Theyâre quieter than other cameras as they have fewer
moving parts
Disadvantages of using a mirrorless camera
īˇ They have a worse battery life than other cameras
however this is always improving
īˇ Due to their small size, it means that some users may struggle to use them
īˇ There is a more limited selection of lenses for these cameras compared to DSLR
cameras.

Gimbal camera
A Gimbal camera is a device which makes it easy to get stable, smooth footage from your
camera whilst you are shooting however, they do come at a price as they are heavy as well
as being quite expensive. This is worth it though as it allows the user to have more
professional camera footage.
5. Advantages of using a Gimbal camera
īˇ It gives you the ability to get smooth footage which looks
amazing in videos
īˇ They are more reliable to use compared to a phone or DSLR
camera
īˇ The stability of it is incomparable to other cameras.
Disadvantages of using a Gimbal camera
īˇ They are very expensive compared to other cameras
īˇ They are heavy so therefore they are hard to travel with
īˇ The setting up process for gimbal cameras is time
consuming.
