5. Idea Evaluation
Which of your ideas do you want to develop further?
Explain why you think that is the right idea to take forward.
I want to develop the final idea with parts of the first video as I like the first idea of focusing on
one part of the salon. I think that this video will be the best as I can show the whole facility and
explain what is on offer. I can explain what range of treatments are available and who will be
doing them which is what my client wants. I can also go into detail on what products are used for
what treatments and what new things the salon offers. Additionally by focusing on one certain
part of the salon I can help the client to bring in new clientele and sell the new area she recently
invested in.
By doing a website for my client I am creating an area that she can show the advert as well and
somewhere that she can direct possible clients towards so that they can easily find out all of the
information that they need. The website will have information about the owner, the building, the
treatments available and the advert.
The pricelists are essential and the client needs new ones because she has recently upped her
prices and added new treatments. The new price lists I make will be shown on the website too so
that there is an easy way for people to look at what is on offer and decide what they want.
9. Assessment of final ideas
Suitability for audience: Do you think your audience will engage with your ideas?
Yes I definitely think my audience will engage with my idea as it's going to show all of the
positive aspects of having treatments along with the great parts of my clients salon and
so overall will be very enticing. I am going to aim the wording of the voiceover towards
the target market so that they feel as though its an unmissable experience.
Suitability for client: Does your idea fulfil the brief your client gave you?
Yes they wanted me to make a short 1 - 2 minute video that showed the salon and all of
it's facilities. They also wanted me to focus on the new massage part of the cabin and so
I am going to talk a bit about that and show lots of relaxing spa shot of products and
candles to make it look scenic.
Timescales: Is your project practical and manageable in the time you have?
Yes I definitely think that I will be able to this project in the amount of time we have
because it will only be a short video of nearly 1 minute 30 seconds and so it shouldn’t
take me too long to film and edit. It length of production depends on what the amount
of time the client is willing to give to me.
11. Contingency
Technical issues are problems involving any equipment that I will use whilst filming for example a camera or a tripod. Many or all of these problems may cause a delay or
literally halt filming and therefore I will need to be prepared to combat these issues. Organisational issues would be issues that involve how much planning I have completed
and how that will effect production. If I haven’t planned all of my production and filming in detail then I could encounter many problems which delay filming and may push
back my finish date. Logistical problems may be issues that affect the whole filming process and I may not be able to easily control them. Therefore it is a good idea to have a
plan incase any of these problems to occur, this could be anything from rain to the general public. Personnel issues would be problems involving any of the people who work
on the film production and sets; that could be the cast or crew or any other people who are involved. This could stop all production as a key person may be off and so I have
to prepare incase that happens however this can be very difficult as it is hard to find a new person to interview on short notice.
12. Health and safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided?
Eye strain from looking at the Mac for too long when editing or
planning.
Every 20 minutes look at something else like the walls, people
or out the window.
Water near electrical items. On set near the camera or by the
Mac.
Keep water away from sockets and keep the lid on water as
much as possible.
Repetitive stain injury from constant typing when evaluating or
planning.
Use as short cuts as possible to reduce the amount that you
type or use the mouse.
Electric shock from loose wires. Don’t touch any where it is not necessary and check first to see
if they are open or loose.
Backache from sitting down for too long or from bending over
to the camera.
Make sure you go for a walk in the breaks so that they avoid any
leg or head problems like headaches or Deep Vein Thrombosis.
Set the camera at a suitable height or get a chair so you can sit
when filming.
Feeling nauseous from being in a class room for too long. Go outside at break to get fresh air to avoid feeling sick.
Back problems from carrying equipment. Follow the correct protocol for lifting heavy items and don’t
carry too much at one time. Get help when carrying big items.
Tripping over wires from the camera or microphone when
filming.
Make sure any wires are up out of the way or are taped down to
the floor do avoid people tripping and falling over and therefore
getting injured.
Tripping when walking and holding the camera. Make sure the route for the camera person is clear and they are
comfortable carrying it at the time.

19. Storyboard
The film will mainly consist of multiple shots going in and out of focus of
candles and equipment. The order of them will depend on which shots I can
get and what available to be filmed in the salon.
