Disaster Risk Reduction
• How did your work support the implementation of the Hyogo
Framework for Action:
– an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of disaster risks
and impacts
– provides suitable relevance and globally and can be applicable to a range
of urban contexts; and a broad range of professions
– promotes risk assessments and supports wider groups of stakeholders to
relate disaster risk to broader urban environment issues
• From your perspective what are the main gaps, needs and further
steps to be addressed in the Post 2015 Framework for Disaster Risk
Reduction in
– Research: Lack of knowledge on how and when stakeholders implement
DRR measures
– Education & Training: Lack of awareness of DRR agenda
– Implementation & Practice: Lack of stakeholders engagement
– Policy: Lack of clear policy on the integration of DRR

Conclusion
• Decision-Support System Portal is a multi-hazard tool that
covers both natural hazards and man-made threats.
• The DSSP has the ability to engage the stakeholders who
might not normally consider DRR.
• The DSSP helps to consider prior knowledge of existing
hazards and threats in a local context, and
• The DSSP helps to recognise that too often disasters occur
because risk reduction measures have not been considered or
undertaken.
