Pre-production Assessment
Locations
The college studio-
The studio should be available if I book, in advanced. This
will be a free location for me to record my audio in peace.
The limitations and risk of the studio are that if the studio
is unavailable for any reason, I will have to rethink
location which is why I have a backup option in case this
happens or if it’s not quiet enough. The weather
shouldn’t affect my recording as my location is indoors.
However, if it is raining or windy, the sound may pick up
on the recording. This will mean I will need to edit out
background sound, if necessary, with the noise reduction
tool. I can also shut the windows if needed to help reduce
some of the background sound when recording. As I
won’t be using any of the screens or other equipment in
the studio and will only be using the table to sit at whilst
recording, there shouldn’t be as many risks and hazards
but me and my cast will need to be careful of any
equipment in the studio.
Equipment
There isn’t a lot of equipment that I will need to make my
podcast. The only things I require are a voice
recorder/microphone to record on and a computer to
edit on.
Microphone-
I will get all kit needed, from college. The only equipment
I will need is a couple of microphones/audio recorders.
College have ‘Boom Mic, Cable + Handheld’ Microphones
available to book. I have sent a request for a booking for
both the studio and the microphones, however, If this
isn’t available, I will use my phone to record the audio.
However, if possible, it would be a lot better and more
professional sounding and clearer audio.
Computer-
I will also need access to a computer which will be
available all around college at all times. I will be using this
to edit and transfer my audio onto adobe audition which
is what I will be using to put everything together and edit
my final piece.
Facilities
I won’t need any specialist facilities for my
project. I will only need access to a computer at
college to create this. I will be using adobe
audition and garage band to create my project.
Garage band-
Garage band I will be using to create my jingle. I
will be using garage band to create the tune for
the jingle and using recorded sound for the
voice over for my jingle.
Adobe audition-
I will be using adobe audition for a variety of
reasons and sections of my production. I will be
using it to edit and create my jingle to add
effects and make it sound clean and
professional. I will also be using it to put all the
clips together and create my project. Splitting
up the interview, adding the songs and editing
the jingle together.
Personnel
Crew-
• Me – I have the studio booked for 3rd may
at 10:30-2:45. I may not use the studio for
all this time, but it is available for me to
use when needed.
• Male Artist – Elliott Mountford. Elliott is
available for the time. Have booked in for
the studio. I have planned this in advanced
so that he can get permission if needed to
be out of lesson to record.
• Female Artist – Andina Bispo. Elliott is
available for the time. Have booked in for
the studio. I have planned this in advanced
so that he can get permission if needed to
be out of lesson to record.
• All cast will be asked to eat and drink in
their own time as we can not eat or drink
in the studio. No transport will be needed
as it will be recorded in college.
Creative Planning
Sound
Effects/Music
I am going to create a jingle using garage band.
This will include a background tune which I will
create on garage band along with a voice clip
which I will edit on audition. I will then edit
these together to create the final jingle.
All songs used will only be a few seconds from
the intro of the song and a few seconds from
the ending of the song. That way it won’t be
copy righted and also it wont make the show
too long. The songs will be faded in and out to
introduce the speaking before the next song.
The songs I am using will be a mix of a playlist
that I created for YorkMix and recent popular
songs. That way it is up to date and more
realistic and professional.

at York College, with personnel and equipment (including without limitations, props, temporary sets, lighting, camera and
special effects equipment) for the purpose of photographing scenes and making recordings of said Property in connection
with the production of a digital media text on the following date(s): 03.05.22 This permission includes the right to take
motion pictures, videotapes, still photographs and/or sound recordings on and of any and all portions of the Property and all
names associated there with or which appear in, on or about the Property. This permission also grants all rights of every
nature whatsoever in and to all films and photographs taken and recordings made hereunder, including without limitation of
all copyrights therein and renewals and extensions thereof, and the exclusive right to reproduce, exhibit, distribute, and
otherwise exploit in perpetuity throughout the universe (in whole or in part) such films, photographs and recordings in any
and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised, including without limitation in and in connection with the
documentary video and the advertising and other exploitation thereof. I certify that I have the full right and authority to enter

Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
The lights in the studio get hot Stay away from the lights when switched on or
previously on. If burnt, seek a first aid box/help
depending on how severe the injury is.
Tripping on wires Stay away from the wires or tape them onto
the ground. If injured, seek a first aid box/help
depending on how severe the injury is.
Bright Lights Don’t look into the lights, if you feel like you
are losing sight after this seek help.
Ventilation Have windows/doors open at all times when
possible to keep the room well ventilated. This
will also stop the spread of covid if any.
Tripping over bags Keep them out of the way or on the desk. If
injured, seek a first aid box/help depending on
how severe the injury is.
Dehydration Make sure there is water available for all the
actors, make sure you drink plenty, especially
on hot days.

3. Pre-Production Completed

  • 3. Locations The college studio- The studio should be available if I book, in advanced. This will be a free location for me to record my audio in peace. The limitations and risk of the studio are that if the studio is unavailable for any reason, I will have to rethink location which is why I have a backup option in case this happens or if it’s not quiet enough. The weather shouldn’t affect my recording as my location is indoors. However, if it is raining or windy, the sound may pick up on the recording. This will mean I will need to edit out background sound, if necessary, with the noise reduction tool. I can also shut the windows if needed to help reduce some of the background sound when recording. As I won’t be using any of the screens or other equipment in the studio and will only be using the table to sit at whilst recording, there shouldn’t be as many risks and hazards but me and my cast will need to be careful of any equipment in the studio.
  • 4. Equipment There isn’t a lot of equipment that I will need to make my podcast. The only things I require are a voice recorder/microphone to record on and a computer to edit on. Microphone- I will get all kit needed, from college. The only equipment I will need is a couple of microphones/audio recorders. College have ‘Boom Mic, Cable + Handheld’ Microphones available to book. I have sent a request for a booking for both the studio and the microphones, however, If this isn’t available, I will use my phone to record the audio. However, if possible, it would be a lot better and more professional sounding and clearer audio. Computer- I will also need access to a computer which will be available all around college at all times. I will be using this to edit and transfer my audio onto adobe audition which is what I will be using to put everything together and edit my final piece.
  • 5. Facilities I won’t need any specialist facilities for my project. I will only need access to a computer at college to create this. I will be using adobe audition and garage band to create my project. Garage band- Garage band I will be using to create my jingle. I will be using garage band to create the tune for the jingle and using recorded sound for the voice over for my jingle. Adobe audition- I will be using adobe audition for a variety of reasons and sections of my production. I will be using it to edit and create my jingle to add effects and make it sound clean and professional. I will also be using it to put all the clips together and create my project. Splitting up the interview, adding the songs and editing the jingle together.
  • 6. Personnel Crew- • Me – I have the studio booked for 3rd may at 10:30-2:45. I may not use the studio for all this time, but it is available for me to use when needed. • Male Artist – Elliott Mountford. Elliott is available for the time. Have booked in for the studio. I have planned this in advanced so that he can get permission if needed to be out of lesson to record. • Female Artist – Andina Bispo. Elliott is available for the time. Have booked in for the studio. I have planned this in advanced so that he can get permission if needed to be out of lesson to record. • All cast will be asked to eat and drink in their own time as we can not eat or drink in the studio. No transport will be needed as it will be recorded in college.
  • 8. Sound Effects/Music I am going to create a jingle using garage band. This will include a background tune which I will create on garage band along with a voice clip which I will edit on audition. I will then edit these together to create the final jingle. All songs used will only be a few seconds from the intro of the song and a few seconds from the ending of the song. That way it won’t be copy righted and also it wont make the show too long. The songs will be faded in and out to introduce the speaking before the next song. The songs I am using will be a mix of a playlist that I created for YorkMix and recent popular songs. That way it is up to date and more realistic and professional.

  • 18. Health and Safety Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided? The lights in the studio get hot Stay away from the lights when switched on or previously on. If burnt, seek a first aid box/help depending on how severe the injury is. Tripping on wires Stay away from the wires or tape them onto the ground. If injured, seek a first aid box/help depending on how severe the injury is. Bright Lights Don’t look into the lights, if you feel like you are losing sight after this seek help. Ventilation Have windows/doors open at all times when possible to keep the room well ventilated. This will also stop the spread of covid if any. Tripping over bags Keep them out of the way or on the desk. If injured, seek a first aid box/help depending on how severe the injury is. Dehydration Make sure there is water available for all the actors, make sure you drink plenty, especially on hot days.

  1. You need to identify locations and plan a recce. What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access, cost, weather? How will you manage this?
  2. What do you need? E.g. equipment, resources? Mostly from college, but who do you need to speak to get this kit? What is available? When? Look at equipment hire places, etc
