1. The genre that I have chosen for my music magazine will be indie
rock, I have chosen indie rock as it is my preferred genre of music, it
has a large target audience and a lot of younger people listen to this
type of music. The genre that I have chosen will influence the layout of
my magazine, the colour scheme of the magazine, the images and
text.
There are many conventions that link in with the indie rock genre, such
as the layout, the images, the colours, the text etc. The conventions in
my magazine will be on the cover. The images will be of an indie rock
influence person or an indie rock band. Its important that the image
has conventions with the genre as it may mislead the audience. The
layout will also be important to portray the genre and the target
audience of the magazine, for example gossip magazines that are
aimed at young people are cluttered and busy, my magazine will have
several things on the cover but not over cluttered, this will make my
magazine more appealing to the target audience. The colour scheme
will also link in with the genre, suitable colours for indie rock are
bright, primary colours. There is also a lot of dark colours on other
indie rock magazines, therefore my magazine will have this type of
colour on. The text will also have an impact on the conventions of the
genre, as the audience are young, the text will be informal to suit the
target market.
