2. Phase 4 Films history
• Phase 4 Films used to be called Telegenic
where it was founded in 1996, based upon
being a family-oriented film distributor.
• Berry Meyerowitz purchased Telegenic in
2003 and renamed it Kaboom!
Entertainment.
3. Why did I choose this?
• It was also the distribution company of the
film ‘Eden’ which is very similar to our
thriller.
• Distributes mostly thrillers/dramas
4. What other films have they
made?
• Big Sky (2015)
• 6 ways to die (2015)
• Capital Punishment (2014)
• Heatstroke (2013)
• Knock ‘em dead (2014)
• Pound of flesh (2015)
5. Does my thriller fit with the ethos
of the institution?
• Yes I feel as if it does because it mostly
uses a wide range of directors, in other
words they do not stick to an individual
director for every movie.
• On the other hand it doesn’t fit with the
ethos because it’s most popular films have
high budgets, which our thriller clearly
does not need a high budget as it will be in
minimal locations.
6. How would they market it?
• I feel as if they would be able to market
our thriller quite well, but because it is not
one of the big six distributers, it will not get
as much attention if it were to be
distributed by them, as they have a lower
budget.
7. Do they specialise in a genre?
• There are a wide range of genres they
distribute but the most successful ones are
comedies.
• The same goes for drama/thrillers, but
they still do distribute children’s animation
films such as ‘The Legend of Sarila’
8. Do they have a particular
audience?
• Most of their audiences enjoy comedies
and dramas the most, and they are more
mature films rather than children’s films.
• Audiences are aimed more at 18-30 year
olds as it can be cheap humour, but on the
other hand some of the films they
distribute are quite complex and thrilling
and would therefore aim to 30-50, but not
much older.
