Evaluation question 7
1. Evaluation Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task. What do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from it
to the full product?
2. Planning
When doing our preliminary task there was very little to no planning
we just got some actors and just made a film. However we realised
this was a mistake as we had to re-film due not having enough
camera angles and some clips were too shaky so could not be used.
In our main task we knew we had to plan ahead and ensure that we
knew what we were doing before we filmed. It was important to book
a camera and a tripod so that we had it to film and to arrange a date
which everyone was available for, this was sorted out by a facebook
group chat with everyone involved in the film. We had written scripts
for the film to make sure the actors knew what they were doing and
so they could adapt into their role quickly. We scouted lots of places
for possible locations for our film and agreed which one suited the
film best.
4. Filming
The change from a handheld camera in our preliminary task to a
1080p hd camera in our final task made the quality of film increase by
huge amounts. Also the change from the camera being handheld to
using a tripod meant that we could get a still shot making the film look
as professional as possible.
In our preliminary task we did not take enough footage therefore
resulting in having to re shoot. In our main film we took multiple
different shots meaning that each shot we had a choice and could put
the best one possible into our film.
In our preliminary task we did not have a microphone this meant that
it was difficult to pick up the sound we wanted to focus on and picked
up a lot of exterior sound. Having the microphone in the final film
meant that we could get the sound to be picked up properly and not
pick up sounds from the exterior e.g.wind.
5. Change from Preliminary Task to
Final Main Task
Handheld camera to Full HD camera with microphone.
6. Editing
The change from Imovie to Final Cut Pro meant that we had a
lot more options to edit with and we could edit in more depth.
Final Cut Pro has many different tools available to edit the film
which meant that the making process of the film we had
multiple different options for. With the ability to change the
lighting and colours in the picture it meant we could get the
correct lighting to set the right mood of the film.
With the easy ability to use lots of different music and sound
effects meant that we could set the mood for the film and could
create the atmosphere we wanted for our audience.
The change to Final Cut Pro overall was a huge improvement
and gave us a much better and flowing film.
