What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
EVALUATION TASK 6
Tech we used
 We used a camera to shoot in 1080p HD
video, we used this to film and apply our
knowledge of camera work to it like rule of
thirds this is where we try and capture all the
action in the Top left, top right, BL and BR
corners of the screen.sony
Tech we used
 Tri-pod – we used to
stabilize our camera
shots and use a pan
motion smoothly without
shaking, the Tri-pod also
allowed us to reach
different levels of
verticality as we where
able to lower the Hight of
the camera or raise it
higher to achieve
different shots.
Tech we used
 IMacs – We used this to run final cut pro, this
program helped us edit our film together and
garage band, this help us get some sound
effects. The IMac's also served as good
research and development tools

to edit all our video footage
into one sequence and add
effects to the footage.
We also used garage band to
generate some sound effects
and play around with music
ideas for our film.

Tech we used
We used all the tools like the blade tool to cut
up different clips and edit them down to the
right size and cutting out any unneeded footage
or moving to another part of the sequence for
use there. We used the select tool to drag
different clips or FX to different parts of the
timeline.
We didn’t use any transitions pre made by final
cut, I did them myself by using key frames to
more accurately get the fade in/out (or any other
effect) to our desired length.
Using the selected tool we where able to blend
two clips together to create a fade in or out,
although we used this more for audio fading
together.

clips or video affects. Anything that applies to the
chosen tab above

Tech we used
 We used the loops
feature to find new sound
effects to create music.
We mainly used this to
find sound effects to help
with our film. Although
this did helps us with
inspiration for the music
used.
Loops – Has a lot of
sounds to implement
into song, or just use
for effects
Play, pause,
rewind and
record
Different sound alterations providing different sound
FX. This includes different amps (which are adjustable)
as well as different sound modifications for lots of
different types of sound
Timeline where the
sound clips appear and
can be moved cut etc.
Final thoughts on what I have leaned
 I have learned lots to do with the different uses of the equipment and software. Using all the tools and
especially the video effects in final cut allowed me to chance the colour of the scene making it more
darker this allowed me to use mise en scene more effectively after filming.
 Footstep effects from garage band helped us give our film a more alive audio enriched experience for the
audience, this overall improves the quality of the film.
 The tripod was extremely helpful at making sure we had a steady shot and gave us the opportunity to use
a pan shot (tree scene at the end of our film)
 The camera I have learned how to operate effectively now, meaning if we don’t need a few clips I can
delete them, or if we need to zoom in on some actions, adjust the ISO or auto focus to blur the
background on foreground I can now effectively do this.
 The IMacs are a great tool to us, although I was more accustomed to editing on a windows computer I
feel more confident with the macs now and how they operate, as I now know a lot of keyboard shortcuts
e.g. screenshots, quick save and force close application as well as general use like where to find files and
how to browse for them. I struggled at the start with all of this but now I feel as if have improve a lot with
the operation of the Imacs, although still prefer using windows.

 We used this website to find other sound effects needed for
our film, this site has many sound effects and different
variations of sounds. We used this site to find the music we
used in our film “double heist” although we later learned
that not everything is copyright free so there is a drawback
to using sites like this and not recording/making it yourself.

dean to conduct research
to help us discover a
target audience we based
our film of Sherlock
Holmes and looked at the
statistics for that which
gave us a greater idea of
who will watch our film.

with minor sound effects
and or uses . We also
used Pinterest to gather
ideas of things to film
and what to include as
well as how to appeal to
our market.

This includes different amps (which are adjustable) as well as different sound modifications for lots of different types of sound Timeline where the sound clips appear and can be moved cut etc.
  • 8. Final thoughts on what I have leaned  I have learned lots to do with the different uses of the equipment and software. Using all the tools and especially the video effects in final cut allowed me to chance the colour of the scene making it more darker this allowed me to use mise en scene more effectively after filming.  Footstep effects from garage band helped us give our film a more alive audio enriched experience for the audience, this overall improves the quality of the film.  The tripod was extremely helpful at making sure we had a steady shot and gave us the opportunity to use a pan shot (tree scene at the end of our film)  The camera I have learned how to operate effectively now, meaning if we don’t need a few clips I can delete them, or if we need to zoom in on some actions, adjust the ISO or auto focus to blur the background on foreground I can now effectively do this.  The IMacs are a great tool to us, although I was more accustomed to editing on a windows computer I feel more confident with the macs now and how they operate, as I now know a lot of keyboard shortcuts e.g. screenshots, quick save and force close application as well as general use like where to find files and how to browse for them. I struggled at the start with all of this but now I feel as if have improve a lot with the operation of the Imacs, although still prefer using windows.
  • 9. Websites we used  We used this website to find other sound effects needed for our film, this site has many sound effects and different variations of sounds. We used this site to find the music we used in our film “double heist” although we later learned that not everything is copyright free so there is a drawback to using sites like this and not recording/making it yourself.
  • 10. Websites we used  We also used pear and dean to conduct research to help us discover a target audience we based our film of Sherlock Holmes and looked at the statistics for that which gave us a greater idea of who will watch our film.
