Evaluation question 1
1. Evaluation Question 1
In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
2. Comparison to other Media
The film “Casino Royale”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZxNbAwY_rk
This is the chase scene from the opening to Casino Royale. It is
clear that some of our ideas came from this clip however it
differs in a few ways. We liked the idea of having and chase
scene as it they always are very tense and action packed. Also
the idea that someone gets captured early on we liked the idea
of as it sets up the film. In addition to this we liked that the
chase was on foot makes it more tense in a way as many film
chase scenes are taken place in vehicles. However our film
clearly differs as this chase has more of a danger feel to it and
due to the bigger budget they had the ability to have more
props and therefore create a more tense atmosphere.
3. Comparison to other Media
The film “Inception”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_6fKA334gk
The chase scene in this we liked due to the fact that it was
action packed and lots of tension was built up in it. Our film
differs from this as ours is not as fast paced therefore less
action takes place however the level of tension created is
similar which encourages the viewer to keep concentrated
and wait for something to happen. We liked the idea of this
due to the fact that having people constantly watching as it
means it is likely to bring in an audience to view our
product.
4. Kept To Conventions
We have kept to the conventions as our victim is female
and the kidnapper is male. This is a stereotypical view that
women are considered weaker and will be captured
therefore our film sticks to typical conventions.
Including a chase scene in the genre of thriller often
means that the film is keeping to the typical conventions. A
chase scene often creates a tense atmosphere for the
viewer.
Our film keeps to conventions when our shots provide a good
sense of what is going on in the plot, while still allowing enough
mystery to be shown later in the film.
