Question 7
1. Question 7 – look back at your
preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full
product
2. Logo
• The logo we created in the preliminary task was created using
PowerPoint and wasn't of very high quality, however when creating
the new logo we used a picture that I had previously taken of the
golden gate bridge and put it into premiere pro where we added an
effect to the picture and also the sound effect of lighting, we finally
made the logo flash white for a couple of seconds to create the effect
of lightning to go with the sound effect. Using premier pro gave a
more professional look to the logo and allowed it to be just added
into the film easily rather than having to transfer it from other
software.
3. Premier pro
• When we used premier pro in the preliminary we weren't very familiar
with the software this meant that it took us longer to do certain things
then it should have, however once we had familiarized ourselves with the
software it became very easy to navigate and overall improved our
product. In our preliminary task the majority of the editing was just cutting
up clips and then putting them next to each other, trying to make the
editing look smooth and make them fit together however in the main
production we learnt how to add effects to the editing to make it run
smoother, Premier pro allowed us to:- add visual effects (black and white
film), add audio effects to the film (sound), cut bits of the raw footage and
edit them together and also frame shots in premiere pro, where we had
made a mistake in the filming it would allow us to correct that when
editing.
4. Camera
• As we had already used the camera in the preliminary, we had the
knowledge of how to work the camera which meant that we were
able to film immediately with no delays. Both cameras were able to
film at the frame rate that modern films are shot in (24 fps) and they
were both able to film high definition which made sure that the film
was of a good quality. However the canon eos 750D had a touch
screen on it which came in useful as it allowed us to tap of the screen
at the point that we wanted to focus on, this meant that the footage
was always focused and extremely clear.
5. Script
• In the preliminary task we used a pre written script which made it
easy for us to use and we dint have to do anything to it, however in
the main production we had to learn how to write our own script
using celtx, which turned out to actually be very easy to use as it did
most f the hard things for you such as setting it out and changing it
from stage directions to speech.
6. filming
• When we were filming the preliminary we didn't realize we had an
issue with lighting but didn’t realize this until we had finished filming
the majority of the scene, this therefore meant we had to try and
correct it when editing but it didn't look right, therefore when we
were filming the main production we made sure to film all of the
scenes in the same lighting, however once we got back from filming
and started to edit we realized that because we had filmed outside
the lighting kept changing and if the film was left in colour then it
would not have looked good so we decided to change it into a black
and white film, but we think that the black and while film make the
film look more grainy which is an effect that we like and think it adds
another aspect to the final edit.
