For his FMP, the student will create a thriller trailer and poster called "The Taxidermist" about a journalist investigating a suspected serial killer taxidermist. He will film original footage showing the journalist sneaking into the killer's house and getting caught. The student aims to learn and apply editing skills to sync video and audio like in his music video. He will research thriller trailers, editing techniques, sounds, and music to replicate typical trailer styles. The student plans to evaluate his work by identifying strengths and weaknesses to improve future projects.
1. Proposal
1
Working Title: The Taxidermist
Audience: I want to aim my trailer towards both genders (male and female) and towards people
who are aged between 15-40, as for the social status I would like to aim for people who are middle
class as the house is quite a modern one and both characters in the trailer will have middle class
jobs, my trailer is aimed for people who enjoy being on edge and enjoy gory events.
I feel like my project will appeal to this specific person as my trailer will contain all the elements a
thriller trailer contains from plot twists to suspenseful moments.
I chose the age group 15-40 as the game I am basing my production on is a 15 rating, I feel like
most people enjoy thrillers as they are usually full of surprises, I asked two people of ages 40 and
31 why they enjoy thriller trailers, they both said they enjoy the trailers as they have enigmas in
them leaving them to wonder what will happen next, they both also said they like the suspenseful
music in the trailers, they like how the scenes play along with the beat of the music.
My production will appeal to both gender as the contains both men and women and the two main
characters are a man and a women, however it might appeal more to women as the victims in the
trailer are women and it makes the women more aware.
People of a middle class will be able to ‘relate’ more to the trailer as the characters will be using
language they use; they will be dressed similarly, and the households will look the same as well.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have learned more skills and knowledge to do with adobe apps such as
photoshop, premier pro and after affects. All these will come in handy when I need to create my
trailer and my post for my project.
When I was editing my music video, I learned how to edit the video clips to the audio, so
everything synced up correctly. This will help me in my FMP production as I will be able to do this
for my movie trailer, making sure that everything is in sync with each other similar to my music
video project.
I’ve always wanted to do make a film or just something to do with the film industry, now I can do
so.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
For my FMP I will be creating two different pieces of media, the first one will be a thriller trailer
called ‘The taxidermist’, essentially the trailer is about a journalist called Madison Paige who is
sent to investigate the home of a shady taxidermist who is suspected to be the a Killer. Madison
sneaks into the killer’s house as he’s not home so she can investigate, however after discovering
he has killed a stuffed several women in his house the killer returns home and discovers someone
is hiding upstairs. Madison gets caught and gets put uncinches by the killer, she wakes up to found
tied up surrounded by bodies and guts, her goal is to escape.
I’m also going to be creating a poster for the trailer to advertise it, I also think it will be a nice touch.
I will need to research the game in further detail so I don’t miss any details, I will also need to
research a number of different thriller trailer in order to be able to create my own that looks and
feels like a typical thriller trailer. This research will include, editing techniques, sound effect, music
etc.

production, I will also pick out some weaknesses and explain what I could of done better and how
the change would of made my production better.
I will have get other to analyse my work also so I can get even more feedback, this way I will be
able to improve and better myself for future projects.
