1. The document describes the process of making a media opening sequence for a teenage drama project. It began as a group project but the creator eventually worked alone.
2. To develop the proper forms and conventions, the creator analyzed opening sequences from movies like "The Last Song" and "A Walk to Remember" to understand techniques like camera shots, angles, focuses and establishing shots.
3. Sounds were also carefully selected to represent the genre, using a slow dramatic background music to appeal to a wide audience beyond just fans of romance/teen dramas. Diegetic sounds were added to make the sequence more engaging.

In what ways does your media products
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
My media product use, develop or challenge forms and convention of real
media product when at the beginning I was in a group till the end but at
the end I left them without telling my group because we were behind and
they were not doing anything so at the beginning me and my group
choice to do drama but when I left them I decided to stick with it because
I already done my research and planning so I had to come up with the
idea of something connected to drama which its challenging the forms
and conventions of a real media products. To make sure that I am
targeting the right audiences I had to look through different opening
sequences like ‘The last song’ and ‘A walk to remember’. I choose some of
these movies, opening sequence so my opening sequence can be deemed
professional, acceptable and recognizable so it can be attractive for the
audiences. Also, by looking at different drama opening sequences this
would help me to understand how my opening can sequence will be
successful and how can I make a good editing at the end. However, every
opening sequence has a logo at the beginning and different titles to
represent the genre that it’s produced and what is the company that has
produced it. However, I had to make my own logo, which means to make
my own company that has produced my opening sequence.
When I looked at ‘A walk to remember’ for an example and I analyzed the opening sequence
because it was the same genre that I’m doing, it was also aimed at the same audience and
followed a similar narrative about the teenage drama, however in the opening sequence of a
walk to remember it is more romantic. From this film, my media product (opening sequence)
has developed forms and conventions of drama. Specifically looking at the camera shots,
angles and focuses, so my opening sequence can be original when I looked at the opening
sequence of ‘A walk to remember’ and some more but mainly at that one establishing shots
that are widely used. There’s a medium shot in the opening sequence of the movie which
shows only Mandy (girl) which I used to show a medium shot of me looking down where as in
the opening title from the movie she is looking up. However, Mandy’s facial expression it’s
frightened, which I used mainly in my opening sequence because of the girl having a broken
heart. However, I used different angles to show the facial expression of the actor so I have
used convention of real media product, to convey my character’s emotion to the audiences.
2. However, at the beginning of my opening sequence I
used the logo that I created for my opening sequence
because I had to make one and not take one that it’s
already out. However I used a template from flixter to
make it more attractive and to make something
different. However, the logo its non-copy right which
allows me to use it, by putting the logo at the
beginning and starting with the sound and a long shot
of the actor it makes the opening sequence appealing
because they can see the whole actor and to see how
she looks and what she is doing. After that it
continued with different shots and some diegetic and
non-diegetic sounds.
I also used sound to represent the teenage drama genre in my opening sequence, which I decided to use slow
but with a little speed dramatic sound. Some of the teenage/ romance drama opening sequences use dramatic
sound either if it’s a song made for the movie or a non-copy right background sound. However, the sound that I
used for background music it is slow but with rhythm and emotional music which it’s mainly used in romance
dramas and teenage opening sequences (movies). By using that background music I have made my opening
sequence for a wider audience rather than just a teenage/ romance drama fans. However I used some diegetic
sound when I put my phone ringing and a voice talking, which was my actor. By using the diegetic sound I am
making the opening sequence more appealing not only for a certain target audiences and for the audiences
that watch mainly drama movies but for wider range of audiences.
It will fit to the genre because it will be aimed for teenagers who watch
drama movies but not only for those who watch drama movies but for
everyone. However it will appeal more to females because the story it is
more like a girl story who gets hear broken or something happens in her life
but whatever happens she don’t have to give up. However, it will appeal
more to female audience because the music it is more for like female who
like slow dramatic emotional music. This is because that kind of sound fits to
my genre and the girls are more attract it to it because they are more
emotional and have more feelings then the males. Finally, I feel that it fits to
the opening sequence because it is challenging to create something that
males will watch as well and it will be appealing for them too.
