1. CONTENT FUNCTIONS
9
ICONTENT (CONTENT PAGES)
Students can
• view learning contents (text, image, video and audio),
• and answer the questions of that page.
Multimedia learning contents and quizzes Notes and doubts
Students can
• add public and personal study notes,
• ask and respond to questions relating to the current page,
• like or unlike other’s notes and doubts.
10
INTERACTIVE CONTENT
11
INTERACTIVE TOOLS
12
RSS FEED INTEGRATION
The RSS feeds block enables RSS
feeds from external websites to be
displayed within Moodle.
As the information on the other site
(for example, news headlines or
recently added documents) is
changed the block will update to
show the latest information.
13
2. COMMUNICATION
FUNCTIONS
14
MY MAIL
• This function allows users to
send messages to each other,
using an interface and features
similar to webmail clients.
• Messages are tied to courses,
users can only contact other
participants in courses they are
enrolled.
• Reading/sending of messages is
done through a new item in the
navigation block called "My
Mail".
15
QUICKMAIL
Quickmail is a block that provides
selective, bulk emailing within courses.
Features
• Multiple attachments
• Drafts
• Signatures
• Filter by Role
• Filter by Groups
• Optionally allow Students to email
people within their group.
16
FORUM
1. Subscribe forum and posts
2. Pin posts
3. Like posts
4. Group mode
1. Separate group
2. Visible group
17
MESSAGE
It allows instructors to send messages
to individual student. So it is good for
talking about private issues;
It gives notifications once a message
arrives, so it is good for making
connection between instructors and
students.
18
SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS
This function helps students (and
probably teachers too!) easily access
their own social media accounts.
Currently there are the following five
fields: twitter, facebook, linkedin,
google plus and youtube. The
students need to add their accounts
via "Preference → Edit profile".
The idea behind it is to give learners
easier access to their PLNs (personal
learning networks) and also to
provide direct access to make
sharing content to Moodle forums
easier.
19
3. ASSESSMENT FUNCTIONS
20
ASSIGNMENT
● Online assignment
grading (Word or PDF
format)
● Marking guide
(Grading method)
● Assignment countdown
21
QUIZ
The Quiz activity module allows the
teacher to design and build quizzes
consisting of a large variety of Question
types, including multiple choice, true-
false, short answer and drag and drop
images and text.
22
ACTIVITY RESULTS
The Activity results block displays results
from graded or rated activities in a course.
You can then choose to display a number of
highest or lowest scores, and whether to
display individuals or groups.
23
QUESTION BANK
Question bank allows a teacher to create,
preview, and edit questions in a database of
question categories.
24
GAME: MILLIONAIRE
This game takes words from
multiple choice quiz questions
and creates a “Who wants to
be a Millionaire” style game
complete with the three
lifelines.
25
QUESTIONNAIRE
Create your own surveys using this tool.
26
E-VOTING
The E-Voting activity
module enables
students to vote via their
smartphone or their
laptop and to have the
results displayed on a
graph in real time.
27
4. COLLABORATION
FUNCTIONS
28
GROUPS AND GROUPINGS
Group allows the allocation a particular activity, resource or
topic section to just one class or set of users and you don’t
want others to see it.
This setting has 3 options:
• No groups
• Separate groups - Each group member can only see their
own group, others are invisible
• Visible groups - Each group member works in their own
group, but can also see other groups
A grouping is a collection of groups within a course. Using
groupings allows you to direct tasks at one or more groups in
your course, so that they can work together on the tasks.
29
GROUP CHOICE
This module allows students to enrol
themselves in a group within a course.
The teacher can select which groups
students can chose from and the
maximum number of students allowed
in each group.
30
COLLABORATIVE GLOSSARIES
The glossary activity module allows participants to
create and maintain a list of definitions, like a
dictionary.
Glossary can be used in many ways. The entries can
be searched or browsed in different formats. A
glossary can be a collaborative activity or be
restricted to entries made by the teacher. Entries can
be put in categories. The auto-linking feature will
highlight any word in the course which is located in
the glossary.
31
RANDOM GLOSSARY ENTRIES
The random glossary block
can be used to display random
entries from a glossary, which
usually take the form of
dictionary style definitions.
32
COLLABORATIVE
DATABASES
The database activity module
allows the teacher and/or
students to build, display and
search a bank of record entries
about any conceivable topic.
The format and structure of
these entries can be almost
unlimited, including images,
files, URLs, numbers and text
amongst other things.
33
5. MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS
34
RESTRICT ACCESS
The restrict access feature is a way for
you to force your students to do things
in a certain order.
35
ANALYTICS GRAPHS
individual learner’s detailed learning
behavior analytics
students’ content access distribution
Hit distribution Content access
Analytics graphs generates graphs
intended to facilitate pedagogical
decisions. The graphs have zoom
capabilities and allow fast
communication with students
through email.
36
GRADEBOOK
All the grades for each
student in a course can
be found in the course
gradebook
37
STEALTH MODE
Stealth mode makes activities (or
resources) available to students but
not shown on the course page.
This feature is supported in
"Weeks", "Topics", "Social" formats
and on the front page. Other course
formats may or may not implement
it.
38
6. INTERFACE RELATED
FUNCTIONS
1. Blocks
• add blocks
• delete blocks
• change the order of the
blocks
2. Course format (course
layout)
• Grid format
• Onetopic format
3. Course theme
• Essential theme
• Boost
• Clean
• Aardavark
39
RESPONSIVE TILES
Step 1: Add a label to the
course interface and add the
function called
“responsivetiles”;
Step 2: Save and the course
interface will convert all
activities and resources
(except lables) to the tiles.
40
MOBILE ACCESS
Course overview
allows easy access to contents,
participants, grades and notes.
Responsive design
displays in portrait or landscape
view, whatever your screen
resolution
Social networking
connects with course
participants easily via message
and forum discussion.
Quizzes on the move
Quizzes may now be completed
on the move.

The entries can be searched or browsed in different formats. A glossary can be a collaborative activity or be restricted to entries made by the teacher. Entries can be put in categories. The auto-linking feature will highlight any word in the course which is located in the glossary.
  • 31. 31 RANDOM GLOSSARY ENTRIES The random glossary block can be used to display random entries from a glossary, which usually take the form of dictionary style definitions.
  • 32. 32 COLLABORATIVE DATABASES The database activity module allows the teacher and/or students to build, display and search a bank of record entries about any conceivable topic.
