Description: Structural analysis and design of structural steel single and double
carport structures as well as a structural steel walkway roof.
Project name: Gautrain Railway U-shapes
Client: Bombela Civil Joint Venture
Description: Confidential work including crack width calculations, concrete creep
calculations using ACI 209 and the method of superposition, where the
results were used to verify a Strand7 finite element model, development
of a Strand7 finite element model considering no-tension gap elements
and the calculation of prestressing losses according to TMH7.
Project name: Wine Waste Solutions Incoming Tanks Temporary Bridge Support
Client: AngloGold Ashanti
Description: Analysis and design of a temporary structure that was used to jack the
bridge off of the AngloGold Mine Waste Solution Plant Incoming Tanks.
The analysis included a wind analysis as well as stability and beam-on-
elastic foundation calculations.
Project name: Alberton Factory Modification Design
Client: General Hinges and Aluminium Frames (Pty) Ltd
Description: The design, detailing and in-house project management of a factory
modification in Alberton. The project included client correspondence,
geotechnical testing, soil retaining concept development, the complete
design of the reinforced concrete ground floor and structural steel
second floor, civil services and storm water management.
Project name: South Uranium Plant SIMMs Inspection
Client: AngloGold Ashanti
Description: A SIMMs inspection and full report of all of the structures at the
AngloGold Ashanti’s South Uranium Plant. The inspection was carried
out with Dr. Vernon Marshall.
Project name: Sishen Mine SIMMs Inspection
Client: AngloGold Ashanti
Description: A SIMMs inspection and full report of all of the structures at the Anglo
American’s Kumba Iron Ore Sishen Mine. The inspection was carried
out with Dr. John Robberts, Mr. Darryn McCormick and Mr. Gerbrandt
Bezuidenhout.
Project name: Waste Conveyor Modifications

Description: The design of the new support frame for the Waste System Conveyors
at Exxaro Grootegeluk Coal Mine. The frame was intended to support
the conveyor when an existing support column for the L1 conveyor was
removed. The scope included foundation design, structural steel design
as well as detailing of a pile-to-conveyor support system so that the
conveyor’s supporting heap could be removed. Donnalee acted as the
responsible engineer on site during the jacking preparations.
Project name: Wine Waste Solutions Incoming Tanks Vibration Analysis
Client: AngloGold Ashanti
Description: An extensive vibration analysis at the AngloGold Mine Waste Solution
Plant in Stilfontein. Work included numerous site measurements, data
processing and analysis. A Strand7 finite element model was generated
to include fluid elements for a more accurate estimate at the natural
frequencies of the structure. The project also included a wind analysis
according to SANS 10160 Part 3: 2010.
Project name: Kopanang Gold Plant Conveyor Vibration Assessment
Client: AngloGold Ashanti
Description: Work completed included a finite element analysis in order to determine
the natural frequency of the structure thereby identifying if current
vibration levels were acceptable.
Project name: In-house Software Verification
Client: NSE (Pty) Ltd.
Description: Software verification for an in-house post-processor developed by NSE
used to verify concrete slab results obtained from the finite element
software package.
Project name: AWR Surge Tower at Camden Power Station
Client: Eskom
Description: The design of a Surge Tower at Eskom’s Camden Power Station. The
design included a finite element analysis of the Tower in order to obtain
foundation loading. Other aspects included foundation design,
substation design, costing for the project as well as a design report
issued to the client.
Project name: Tau Tona Boring Project - Tunnel Instrumentation
Client: AngloGold Ashanti
Description: AngloGold Ashanti new mining method measurements where stress
and strain results were obtained from underground instrumentation.
Non-linear Strand7 models were generated in order understand stress-
strain behaviour and explain the analysed results.
Project name: QSA Klerksdorp Office Building

Description: The design of an office block for QSA Klerksdorp where reinforced
concrete columns, internal walls, torsional beam, foundations and

circular slab were designed from first principles as well as using Strand7
models. The scope of work also included the design of a cold-formed
structural steel roof and the site inspection of the roof slab rebar before
the concrete was poured.

Client: Exxaro Grootegeluk Coal Mine
Description: Project management, including client correspondence, of draughting
and detailing work at Exxaro Grootegeluk Coal Mine. Structures
detailed included the Waste Conveyor, the Product Conveyor as well
as the Kidney Stacker.
Project name: Kidney Tunnel Feeder Support Structure Shop Detailing
Client: Exxaro Grootegeluk Coal Mine
Description: Project management, including client correspondence, of draughting
and detailing work at Exxaro Grootegeluk Coal Mine. Structures
detailed included the six Kidney Tunnel Feeder Support Structure
Platforms and a connecting bridge.
Project name: Dozer Trap Failure Audit
Client: Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore
Description: Member of the team that conducted a review and assessment of a
Dozer Trap at Kumba Iron Ore. The audit was carried out to establish
the reasons for failure of the plant.

Description: The design verification of the replacement No. 13 Silo Chutes at
Goldfields Kloof Mine: Plant No. 1. Work completed included silo
loading calculations, FE modelling, detailed drawing reviews and report

as well as collection of concrete cubes on site for testing at two separate
