1. Pre-Proposal:
Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
An animated story, shortfilm or animatedbook.
Possibly a spinon a commonfairy tale (e.g.
humpty dumpty)
Why have youdecided to makeit? Because I knowI will enjoy doing it andI think it
will improvemy drawing andanimatingskills
which is whatI would like tolearn more aboutand
continueto do at university.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
I just love tocreate. Before I justmade everything
in my headbut now I have more confidence and
facilities toactually create characters, create
movement, create worlds for them to live in. I’ve
always lovedfilms, especially fantasy or animated
films, I love the way characters are built and how I
can see otherpeople’s imaginations. I want todo
that.
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased
activity)
Revoltingrhymes
Dr Zeus
Overly sarcastic productions. (something tomake
learning fun?)
Kitty Lacey series of children’s books
Snack attack (shortfilm)
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
Enjoymentmostly butI want them to see the
character and engage with the story. Finding it
funny or tense dependingon what the story is.
I want my animationto be fun with exaggerated
movementsbecauseI think it wouldmatch my
style more andI would enjoy seeing people’s
reactions.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
The style I will be aiming for is fun andquite
quirky. I like contrastingcharacters or
characteristics, goodendingsand goodmain
plots. (E.g. World War Z (the best zombie film I
have ever seen) some of it is predictable butit
doesn’tmakeit any less tense).
2. Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
Because it is the mostobviouschoice anda style
thatI enjoy. Mostof the thingsI make, through
my projects so far, have hadsome quirky,
different effect andgenerally with humour. Itis
just how I work;I enjoy creating humourin my
work andif I don’t, I’mnothappy with the result.
Even if it is a dark story I try tomake it more tense
andunexpected or give the character some
recognisable traits. I have learnt that I enjoy
character creation and storytellingand thiscomes
more naturally to me when there is humour
involved.
