1. This initial document provides you with an opportunity to reflect on, review and summarise
your progress and achievements through the first 7 units of the qualification and what you
plan to create in your final project. Think about what you know now, and what it means to
you, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course, and how
this has influenced your choice of pathway and your FMP.
Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
A story of a survivorbasedin a post-apocalyptic
world.
Why have youdecided to makeit? Because it’s a project ill be workingof for weeks
on endand I want tobe able to find a project that
I can work onendlessly withoutdisliking or losing
motivationfor it.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
ItssomethingI want to challenge myself and do. I
don’twant it to be like any otherstudentfilm I
want it to be different. With thisI want to be
pushedto my limits in cinematography andreally
get down to showingoff whatI’ve learnt over the
past3 years.
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased
activity)
Games like fallout andfilms like mad max. with
the idea of a lone wanderer doing goodfor the
people he comes acrosswith western elements
involved.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want themto be entertained in the story and
have somethingtowatch for fun aswell as for a
basic story. Imnot sure if I want tomake a sequel
after thisbut want somethingI can make a series
off of.
As well aslooking at othershortfilms thathave
been made with the same settingthat I’mthinking
of.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
What I want to try and dois try and experiment
with filters and look of the film. With this I can
really drain out colourand grain meaningthe film
can have more of a postapocalypticvibe. With a
lot of the shotsbeing takenfrom afar to show
isolationin the world.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
Because it seems to be a theme in post
apocalypticfilms meaningit will really set the
scene from the get go. With the themes being
present throughoutthewhole film.
