1. EMP: Aiming for Greater Heights through Excellence
What gives better insight to an organization’s accomplishments is not the number of
years behind it, but the passion of those at the helm. “Even with decades of
experience, our vision still remains to be one of the most reliable and trusted
companies providing total construction solutions in the industry,” says
Chandranandana Diyunuge, Chairman of Electro Metal Pressings (EMP), an industry
leading electro mechanical engineering solutions provider in Sri Lanka today.
A friendship based on mutual respect that began 20 years ago is the solid foundation
upon which the revival of EMP transpired. The founders, Chandranandana Diyunuge
and Suresh Thenuwara met at the Engineering Faculty of the University of
Moratuwa, and instantly connected over their passion for electrical engineering,
both graduating with Honors in the subject. Having acquired full ownership of a near
bankrupt company in 2003, the duo transformed EMP into a rapidly expanding
behemoth over the past decade of operation.
“Our unrelenting focus on two key elements has been the key to our success,”
comments Suresh Thenuwara, Managing Director of EMP. “It’s the perfect
amalgamation of best-in-class people, and state-of-the-art technology. We have
never compromised these two aspects of our operation.”
From introducing the first CNC machine to investing over 3 million USD in the latest
technology and production facilities, the company was setting benchmarks that
demanded to be followed.
On the people front, EMP’s core values of collaboration, trust and authenticity,
contribute to the standards of professionalism and excellence its employees are
recognized for. The company heavily invests in creating career paths and
opportunities for all employees, while also ensuring progress within the
communities in which they operate as a responsible corporate citizen.
The unwavering focus quality has seen the company building up on internationally
acclaimed quality standards such as ISO and IEC in both process and products, while
2. establishing partnerships with leading brands and suppliers such as Schneider, Allen
Bradley and Legrand.
With a growing portfolio of mega projects and customers, EMP broadened its to
cater to customer needs by establishing strategic business units for various focus
areas of the business. Today, with a fully equipped ultramodern factory premises
located at Templeburg Industrial Estate Panagoda, EMP is aggressively moving
outside Sri Lanka to mark a bigger regional footprint, with two country offices
already in operation in Maldives and Bangladesh.
Recognized internationally for its pioneering efforts in the industry, EMP continues
to diversify and enhance their brand presence. The founders are excited for the
growth opportunities in the industry, and concluded by stating “We are proud to be
platinum sponsors of the Construct Exhibition for the second year running, and wish
the event the very best!”
