1. For the large image inside the digipak, Rihanna has used a 3 panelled image of her
lying down on a bed of roses. The simple floral theme is quite romantic and
emotional. The use of red for the roses could show danger as well as sexiness, it is
Rihanna. The mise en scene could also have the audience questioning what
message/messages are being conveyed. The fact that she is lying down on the roses
could show a sign on weakness. As well as this, there is a sense of sex appeal because
of the way she is lying down.
The front cover is an extreme
close up of Rihanna’s face and
you know straight away who it is.
The same as the large inside
image, she has red lipstick on as
well as red hair. This draws us to
the boldness of her hair and lips
and makes them stand out. She is
shown looking very calm and
relaxed while looking down and
not at the ‘audience’. She looks
passionate about her album and
this is shown as a positive thing
to the audience. There is a ray of
light shining across her face. This
could be showing spotlight.
In her album there are 2 CD’s. One of which is the CD with all her album
songs on it, and the other possibly being a bonus CD. The CD’s both have an
image of a pale pink/nude rose on each. This connects with the theme of the
album. In the 3 panelled picture she is wearing a nude dress which matches
the colour of the roses on the CD’s. The theme and songs on the album show
beauty, love, relationships and gives the theme of the album a romantic
feel/look to it. This also gives the album a feminine appeal.
The under laying picture is the
same as the front cover. The
name of the CD is called
LOUD, which is like Rihanna’s
image and personality. This
name is written in white, thin,
capital letters across the bottom
on the picture. As well as her
name written the same way in
the top corner; but smaller; they
don’t stand out and are very
faint to see. This could be
because they want to keep the
attention on her. They are
portraying to the audience that
you don’t need to see her name,
you will know you she is by
looking at the image.
