1. Why I plan to use these types of photos
• 1) I have decided to use this range of photographs from google as inspiration as I want to be able
to represent the feelings of the audio within the Digipak. I am planning a photo-shoot on the 22nd
of November within a studio at school. I am planning on using a dark, black, background as I
would like the main focus to be on the male model that I am going to use. I have chosen the black
background as I would like to make sure that there is enough emphasis on the colour on the
models skin as I am planning on inverting the Images so that the colours are reversed which will
then create an effect of UV paint. There will be a slight pink tinge to the photographs after being
edited as the invert will change the original colours slightly. I have decided that I would like to use
the male model for close ups of his face and make sure that the artificial lighting that I use is able
to emphasise and bring out the natural curves in their back. This will bring a natural feel to the
Digipak and be in contrast to the black paint creating a more young and cool vibe.
• 2) The use of close up photos enables the emphasis on emotion and I would like the Digipak to be
based on emotions and the way the song Sail sums up the way the model and main protagonist
eels throughout the music video. I want there to be a strong link between the Digipak and the
lyrics, with a deep and meaningful expression being demonstrated. As the photos will be in a pink
undertone they will have connotations that a girl has broken his heart, but also represent the role
of a female protagonist within the music video due to the cover only showing a male model.
3. What information I am going to include
• I am wanting to include a range of different information to be shown on the panels of my Digipak including the need
to show the songs that are included in the album and if there are any special features. I also want the Digipak to look
professional and this can be achieved through adding bar codes and licensing company logos etc. Below is some
information that I will need to include on some of my Digipak panels:
• 1) name of each track :"Megalithic Symphony" , "Some Sort of Creature" ."Soul Wars" People", "Jump on My
Shoulders" ,"Burn It Down", "Guilty Filthy Soul", "Kill Your Heroes", "My Nightmare's Dream" ,"Sail", "Wake Up", "Not
Your Fault" ,"All I Need", "Knights of Shame" Shoestrings”, "I've Been Dreaming" and “Swinging from the Castles“.
4. Digipak advert plan
For my advert I am planning on
using one image to make sure
that the advert is not too
complicated to understand as it
is meant to easily promote the
album and also appeal to the
target audience, not confuse
them or contradict the music
video/ audio in any way. This
means that I have chosen for
the advert to feature the
models back which is the same
front cover to the Digipak so
that customers can relate and
it will also be easier to find the
album in shops if they are
looking for the same image as
on the advert.
The Awolnation previous advert has
included minimal content other than
a main photo so I am planning on
doing the same however I will
include this sign above which directs
customers in the right direction
when wanting to make sure that
there Is enough information about
where to buy the album. This will
also include the release date of the
album which will be around
30/1/2017, after Christmas when
most consumers have their vouchers
for iTunes for Christmas presents.
