2. Wide Shot
Which is out of focus and then tracks in to reveal a
birthday cake which when in focus reveals that it is
Jessica’s. This also foreshadows the final shot of the
movie. It could also be relevant to the lighting in the cave.
3. Medium Close Up
This shot is a medium close up, however the camera is tilted down
so she is below, making her look weak and vulnerable.
4. Mid Shot
This shot opens up to show you the room, revealing where she is. The fact it
is still looking down on her exaggerates the situation and makes you
inquisitive to how serious it is.
5. Close Up (Cutaway)
This is a cutaway to the heart monitor because it is a prominent sound through the
scene. Also as the shot cuts away there is the sound of the heart monitor stopping,
because you cannot see her, this triggers questions on what has happened and
what is about to happen.
6. Mid Shot
This is a mid shot, so you can see her facial expression and body
language yet you can still see the background, so when the lights do
start going out you see before she does – this is dramatic irony.
7. Wide Shot
This shot happens straight after the midshot, so it exaggerates something is
going to happen soon. This shot also makes her look lost and emphasizes the
fact that there are only two ways to go – possibly no ‘escape route’.
8. Trombone Shot
This shot shows the realization of what happened, and gives shows the shock
she feels as she realizes.
9. Mid Shot
This shows the darkness that is ‘coming for her’ and that it
scares her.
10. Steadicam
This is to make the scene energetic and that she is running away from
something that is scaring her.
11. Steadicam
This is a point of view steadicam, to suggest that there is
actually something following her.
12. Steadicam (360 track)
The 360 tracking shot is to suggest that Sarah’s world is
falling apart around her.
13. Close Up
This is a close up of Juno crying, this is possible because of
guilt because Sarah is grieving a husband who was having an
affair with her best friend (Juno) and/or because she has just
lost the man she loved.
