2. C-U
This shot is a close up. This is used
to show Jessica Sarah's daughter
and the birthday she will never have
and the illusion to the darkness she
is in now she is no longer with us.
This shows the viewer a transition
from the previous car crash.
3. E-C-U
This close up is used to verify the setting
and shows the heart rate monitor. Showing
the viewer they are in a hospital and Sarah
is in a potentially critical state. This is then
re-illiterate by the heart rate monitor starting
to decrease and Sarah starting to die. This
is done to show the passing of the original
Sarah and allow for the development of her
darker and more depressed self.
4. High angled M-S
This shot is used to show the
vulnerability of Sarah and sets
the setting of the hospital. Also
allows the viewer to overlook her
as if they are a visitor and uses
this to show how weak and
unstable she is.
5. Trombone shot
This is called a trombone shot, this is
because of the zoom and the focus
elongates the hallway. Allowing for the
viewer to see the realization of Sarah and
her situation. And also links to the
darkness that try's to consume her. Also
is an in site to her condition of PTSD.
6. STEDICAM
This shot is used to follow the main
character down the hall way. Trying to
escape her demons and the darkness,
the low lighting and the movement of
the shot allows adds to this effect. This
stedicam shot also allows for the viewer
to see Sarah fighting for her purity and
the green tint allows for the darkness to
become even darker and pitch black.
7. Arc shot
This shot shows the realization of the
Sarah and is not only done visually but
emotionally, because it is at this point she
realizes that her family is gone and she is
all alone. This shot also shows that the
darkness is not following her any more
because of this realization. The arc shot
also puts Sarah in the center of the point
of view and life moving on around her.
8. STEDICAM-Out
This shot is used to show the viewer
there is nothing that anyone can do and
the first chapter is over. This is there to
fade out of Sarah's life and transition to
another part into the future, this is
effective because of the tracking out
motion as if the viewer is slowly walking
away and is getting less and less
involved with the shot.
