2. For my research I used:
Power point to present my research in a clear and simple way, it’s easy and
simple to use. I used this when looking at audience research, record labels,
research into media texts, and what a music video is. I believe that by using
Power Point to show these, it made it easy to see the research I had done and
helped me to quickly find information.
Slideshare to be able to embed my work on power point onto my blog in a clear
way.
Google to find out information on the Geri Halliwell case study, the Miley Cyrus
star theory and images for my research into wider media. I found google very
useful as it was quick and easy to find different theories and a lot of information
about then which enabled me to make my star theory more detailed.
Prezi as creative way to present my work in a more interactive way. This made
my work more interesting to look at due to the different ways of zooming in and
inserting images and videos. By using prezi it enabled me to choose
backgrounds that related the work.
Blogger to upload all of my work onto, to make it all viewable in one place. The
use of the website allowed the teacher to view my work regularly which enabled
me to gain constand feedback on my work, this allowed me to gain a higher
grade. It was also a source of where all my work was kept, therefore I would not
lose any of my work.
YouTube to watch the Geri Halliwell video for the case study, and other case
studies. I used YouTube to look at other media texts, such as advert. I also spent
a lot of time watching lots of music videos to find out which ones inspired me.
The main one that inspired me was Half Moon Run – Nerve. I liked this video due
to the narrative and it helped you relate to the lyrics, this is the main video I took
influence from. Once I knew what genre music the video was, I focused on
videos of that genre to gain information of the codes and conventions I needed to
use and what worked by analysing them. Using YouTube was vital for analysing
music videos and to get a better idea of what audiences expect.
Glogster to present my Geri Halliwell case study. Glogster was slow and was
slightly confusing to use but in the end result was successful.
Bubbl.us to show the reflection on my research. Bubbl is an online spider
diagram. I found this really useful to show reflection as it shows all the different
parts separately and what links.
I used timeline to create the timeline of the genre and band for my music video. I
found the timeline ok to se although it did get a bit confusing to use as some bits
3. For my audience research I used:
Powerpoint to present my work in a clear format.
Google to research into the music video record labels to get as much
information as possible. I also used google to get background information
on my chosen track, to get the lyrics for the song, this was easy to do.
Youtube to look at other music videos within the same genre to get ideas
of my target audience and what to include.
SurveyMonkey to create a survey to get audience feedback on what they
expect to see within the genre I am using. It was easy to use. It gave me
more of an idea on what to include in my music video.
Prezi, I have used prezi throughout my project, mainly in the
research, planning and evaluation. I like prezi as it is a creative way of
presenting work. I used this to show the genre conventions and analyse
the structure, meaning and emotion of the song Mardy Bum.
Glogster, to present my audience profile. Glogster was slow and was
slightly confusing to use but in the end result was successful
Word, to present my location recce and costumes in a clear way.
A scanner to scan in my hand-drawn storyboard, showing another
personal form of creativeness.
DSLR Fujifilm camera to take pictures of the shooting location for the
video and of the model. I used basic photos of these as they werent
going to be used within my final outcome.
Excel to create the gantt chart which helped me make sure I was
organised, knowing what order and when to do my work in. I also used
excel to create pie charts to present my audience feedback data clearly.
4. For my production I used:
Adobe InDesign to create my magazine advert and digipak. I think that this
programme was easy to use as I had used it in my AS coursework. When
creating my digipak and advert I found InDesign useful to get all of the images
the same size by holding down the ctrl whilst resizing. This didn’t make the
images blurry which overall made the photographs look more professional.
Within both my ancillary tasks I used the text spacing tool as the font I wanted to
use was too close together, this allowed my work to look more professional as
the font wasn’t so tight together making it look untidy. I also used shapes within
my advert such as the line to separate the album title from the rest of the poster
to make it stand out and catch peoples eye so they know it is a new album.
Google to get a barcode and record label image for my digipak, to make it look
realistic.
Adobe PremierPro to produce my music video on. I hadn’t used this programme
before but I got used to it after a while. Whilst making my music video I used
transitions such as “Fade to Black”. I used this transition a few times within my
music video to come from the end of one day to another; to skip from when the
couple were happy to angry. This also worked well when showing the couple
being happy as it was representing them thinking about how they used to be. I
also sped up some of the clips in my video to make them fit with the beat of the
music. For example when the boy is walking from the train station I sped this up
to make his footsteps go along with the beat of the music. I think this worked
better as it linked better with the music. I cropped some of the clips to make them
fit in better with the music by using the cropping tool. I have a few parts where
the couple are lip syncing. When I filmed them doing this I played the music so
they could say it at the same time, therefore I didn’t have to speed up or slow
down the clip which made it easier for me, the only problem was finding the right
time but I didn’t find this too difficult. This helped my music video look more
professional.
Sony camcorder to film my music video on. I found this easy to use as I had
used it many times before.
DSLR Fujifilm camera to take the images for my digipak and magazine advert. As
I am a photography student I understood how to use he camera as well as
knowing what shot types looked best and understanding the rule of thirds,
therefore my photographs were of a higher standard.
Word to show all my screenshots of creating my music video, magazine advert
5. To answer my evaluation questions I used:
Prezi as a creative way to present my work.
Powerpoint to present this evaluation
question.
