3. BILLIE EILISH FEAT. KHALID
LOVELY.
video-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1Pl8Cz
NzCw
I have chosen this song as it has a general
story to it. You could chose to do what ever
music video you wanted to it. The music video
that Billie has is very general, it could be
about love. It is a Minor key so it sounds sad,
So it may be about a break up. Someone
leaving. The violins add to the tension.
My idea for this song was to show a
person/animal/plant (probably a person) and
leaving home/a place. I got this idea from the
pre-chorus (0:35), where the song builds up
tension to the chorus. I could do a shot of a
person in a crouched down (in a ball) position
and then slowly unfolds themselves in a
minimum of 5 shots on the actual video. I
think I would use stop motion in this shot.
I also really like the different perspectives of
4. NEW POLITICS
EVERYWHERE I GO (KINGS
AND QUEENS)Video-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdMei
RlOz1o
I have chosen this song as it is a different
Pop genre to Billie. New politics are more
rock but still alternative. I think alternative
songs offer more things to do in a music
video. I think this song has got more of a
story line to it. It is about a person who
cannot get anywhere in life. It has a good
backing track but might need to get the
clean version if I am going to use it.
The music video has fiery elements to it, I
could not obviously use these. But I like
the stereotypically bad elements, such as
the baseball bats and the firry red sports
cars.
I really like the backing track to it. The
rock and roll could add to the music video
I am thinking of doing. I am thinking
weather I could film a person. It could be
anyone, they would be anonymous to the

BURY A FRIEND
Video-

k
I chose this video as I think that it is very
generalised. It has a âhorrorâ genre to it. (even
though it is pop). It is written from the
perspective of of a monster under a bed. The
songs violent and dark lyrics provide the horror
mood. The synths to this theme. The music video
is dark themed and has undertones of evil. Billie
uses the dark music to add a complete horror
genre. The way that this music video is
completed is genius as the subtle movements
adds the effect of the monster. This has
connotations of evil. I like the story telling
element of it.
My idea for this music video is that I could
complete a video that exactly fits the mood of
the piece. I am not just going to recreate the
exact music video. I am going to complete shots
of horror. Objects moving and things dropping.
Supernatural theme to it. I could also use the
night cycle to complete the supernatural theme
(or reverse), (go out at night time). The character
in the production could be anonymous and
6. BILLIE EILISH
ALL THE GOOD GIRLS GO TO
HELL
Video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-
PZsSWwc9xA
I chose this video as it is a pure example of
what our world is facing right now, (climate
change). This songâs music video is a big
metaphor for the world burning up.
But in this music video I really like the
imagination that went into this. Obviously, I
cannot use fire. For my idea for this video, I
think I should still point out the purpose of the
video. I could attend a York climate strike and
film a few shots. I need to make it realistic so it
is different to Billieâs video.
I could think about perspective of film and get
7. BILLIE EILISH
XANNY
This song doesn't have a music video but here is the track-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbjwfQG_N
This song does not have a video. But the lyrics are what are
making the emotion. It is in a minor key. This is why it feels
sad.
I think it is about mental health of love and relationships.
For my idea, I have decided to complete a similar idea to the
âBury a friendâ video.
But I could create it on the genre of this song instead.
8. POTENTIAL SONGS
The songs that would be quite interesting to do are:
Billie Eilish â Bury a friend -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUHC9tYz8ik
The reason for choosing this song is because I really like
the sinister and ghoulish effect that I could do really cool
things with in a music video. I also could come up with
some alternate transitions for the camera.
Billie Eilish â Lovely -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1Pl8CzNzCw
The reason for choosing this song is because I think I
could potentially do the piece based on a persons life a
there is a big pre-chorus that adds tension (sad tension).
12. POTENTIAL TECHNIQUES
âBURY A FRIENDâ
In my three ideas, for the âBury a Friendâ music track. I have
decided to use different techniques with the same concept.
Idea one) a video with lots of camera transitions. Like the
actual music video itself. But I think I would have different
transitions from the audiences perspective. E.g. the audience
eyes are the camera (like normal) but the angles that the
camera are changing a lot. I think this will add a twist to the
video. It will make it more spooky.
Idea two) another video with lots of transitions but added
sound effects. (Not just sound effects on a computer) Record
them in real life (on my phone) and then add them in in the
editing. This was what Billie did in her video, I thought it was a
good idea. I could record something weird etc. This could
make the video even more ghoulish.
Idea three) A stop-motion cartoon video, basically a narration
of the story. The sound effects of (idea two) and the transitions
of (idea one). (I will learn how to do stop motion)
13. POTENTIAL TECHNIQUES
âLOVELYâ
In my three ideas, for the âlovelyâ music video, I have
decided to use all sad story ideas but in different ways.
Idea one) I could use the sad (minor) music to make the
music video good. Like my first idea on the âBury a
Friendâ music video, I could use different transitions to
show all the perspectives of the story.
Idea two) Use the pre-chorus as a build up (as it is) for
disappearing items. As my story was to compose a piece
that a child moves from home.
Idea three) I could use the camera to show a first person
view of a person growing up. The camera/audience
would be the âparent of themâ
14. CONVENTIONS YOU PLAN TO
USE
âBURY A FRIENDâ
â˘For all three ideas, I will film on the streets or in the
house. I could take some shots in college as well.
â˘Most of them would have to be at night (good as it is
becoming dark quicker)
â˘Most of the people in this video will be anonymous.
â˘No matter what idea I'm conducting, I would use
different perspective and sound effects.
15. CONVENTIONS YOU PLAN TO
USE
âLOVELYâ
â˘For all of these ideas, I could film either on the streets or
at a house. I could take some shots in college.
â˘I doesn't matter if it is day or night but I think I would
want to film in the evening when the sun is going down.
â˘In the perspective of the parent (three), in the
perspective of the audience (one/two).
18. SUMMARY
⢠One opportunity for my âBury a friendâ video is that it gives me a
chance to figure out creative ways to make the whole thing scarier
than a normal music video. I could find creative ways to make the
transitions add to this.
â˘Another opportunity for the âBury a friendâ video is that the whole
thing is very creative so I can explore ways to make the consume
more ghoulish etc.
â˘An opportunities that I have with both music videos is that I get to
play with the camera and figure out what works best for my video.
Not anyone else's. I would probably listen to peoples suggestions
though.
â˘One opportunity for my âlovelyâ video is that I have a different
feeling of video to work with. In my idea I donât actually have
anyone's faces in it. It all remains anonymous. I have to find a
creative way to hide their faces as the music does all the feeling for
them. It is in a minor key, so that feels sad to the audience.
â˘Another opportunity for My âlovelyâ video is that this is a more
realistic music video to make than the other song, âBury a friendâ.
While that is more scary this song is more sad. The sad minor
chorded song is perfect for experimenting with a more realistic
19. SUMMARY
â˘One restriction to my âBury a friendâ video is that I donât
have all the set up that the actual video set has. E.g. the
editing/recording set will not be as good as their âmillion
poundâ set up. (it will)
â˘Another restriction to my âbury a friendâ video is that the
âsetâ that I want to use might not be free, such as if I was
going to film at home, people might not want me to. I
need to find a place that I can film in.
â˘Similar to the last restriction is that in my âLovelyâ video, I
maybe canât film in places that are busy, such as the
town center on Saturday!
â˘A restriction to my âlovelyâ video is that I need other
people for this video, I need to allow them time to know
what they are doing, If they donât want to do it, they
donât have to.
20. FINAL IDEA â BILLIE
EILISH/âBURY A FRIENDâ
For my final idea, I am going to be completing a music video on the
song âBury a friendâ by Billie Eilish.
Video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUHC9tYz8ik
The thoughts behind the video-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvo_R9eKpVc
The biological background of this song is that Billie has written it
from the perspective of the monster under the bed. Billie drew it
and that is where she and her brother got the idea from. It was
written in 2018 but came out in January of 2019.
This song references to the song Black skin head by Kanye West as
it has the same 120 beats per minute.
Video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q604eed4ad0
The genre of this song is Pop/Alternative/synth.
21. FINAL IDEA â TRACK
SUMMARY
The track consists of the singer, Billie Eilish, sing in the
perspective of the monster under the bed and being
neglected.
The meaning of the song is powerful, It makes me think
of death as it suggests.
In the track, there is a intro of one word âBillieâ, the
chorus, verse 1, the refrain, the pre-chorus, the chorus,
verse 2, the bridge, the refrain, the pre-chorus and lastly
the chorus.
The duration of the track is 3 minutes and 13 seconds
long.
The pace of the track is quite fast at 120 bpm.
The style of the song is horror/alternative.
22. FINAL IDEA â YOUR IDEA
My interpretation of the song is that it is quite dark and deathly.
My final idea defiantly show this.
Final idea:
A âa criminalâ is trying to get away from a murder that they have
committed. They have killed their friend! (hence the tittle, âBury a
friendâ). Might show flash backs e.g. bloody hands. Through out
the video they get increasingly guilty. As they become increasingly
guilty they become even more ghostly⌠(actually become a ghost).
This ghostly figure could eventully turn into the victim.
I will use a green screen and green âclothingâ to make myself a
ghost! Could go to a fancy dress shop. (suggested)
I will use alot of camera transitions like in the real music video.
Such as the downwards swipe (you see in the real video).
I will keep the genre the same as the video, alternative/synth/pop
that is horror.
24. TITLE OF
PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION
OUTLINE
Basically, My music video is about a âcriminalâ that killed
their friend. Through out the music video, their guilt
overwhelms them until they turn into a ghost. The ghost
becomes the victim.
I am going to make a music video to the Billie Eilish song:
âBury a friend!â. The intended outcome for this music video is
for it to be a horror story full of guilt and the supernatural.
This fits the genre of the song well.
My chosen track of âBury a friendâ is written in the
perspective of a âmonster under the bedâ, that was the
inspiration of this video. She also explained âI confess that I
am the monster under the bed because I am my own worst
enemy.â This explains why Billie is this dark in her video. She
is saying what she is feeling at that time and place.
25. TITLE OF
PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION
OUTLINE
My interpretation of the song as not this at all. My
interpretation of this song was mentally disturbing, I honestly
thought it was about a person who was thinking dark thoughts.
The person, who says âBillieâ at the start, I thought he was a
therapist. The hook of âI wanna end me, I wanna end meâŚâ
emphasizes why I thought this. The pace of this song also
explains why I thought this, with 120 bpm, it is quite a fast
shuffle beat. The shuffle beat also reminded me of a heart
pulsing. This added to the tension of my interpretation of this
song. The Mood of this song is Very Dark!
My needed technical requirements are a green screen, camera
and lens, battery, tripod, SD card and a computer. I also think I
need to buy some GREEN gloves, a GREEN mask/face paint and
some GREEN socks to make myself into a ghost.
26. LOCATIONS
One location I was thinking of filming at for the intro was
a park with grass and soil, so I can look like I am burying
someone or covering up someone. (not going to look
dodgy at all). I donât have to do this in a public place, I
could find a place like a car park or somewhere that is
private and ask if I can use this.
Another place that I was thinking of filming at was the
streets, foot paths in the evening (when it is getting
dark).
The third place I was thinking of filming at was my
house.
27. EQUIPMENT
The equipment that I will need to book (48 hours ahead
of when I will collect it) is: A camera, a Battery, an SD
card, a tripod and the green screen.
All of these, I will use (apart from the green screen)
outside of the college for my project.
For the green screen, I will need to buy some green
gloves, green socks and a green mask. (all the same
shade)
28. FACILITIES
I will need to edit my project in college as I cannot edit at
home as I will not have adobe premier pro at home. I will
also be editing at college because the iMacs have a
better quality of work than my home laptop.
29. PERSONNEL
My team consists of two people, me (Joy) and Hannah.
Most of the time, operating the camera will be both of
us. Hannah will film me when I need to be on camera as
the only person in the video is me, such as when I have a
full body shot as a ghost. I think Hannah is good at this. I
will film on the tripod, such as when the blood drops on
the floor in the intro. I will film from different
perspectives so the audience experiences twists to the
dark mind, ( makes it more cynical). I think that I am
good at this.
It is only me in my music video, so I donât need to
contact anyone but Hannah if I need filming.
30. PROPS/COSTUME/ETC
For my props, I will need to have a big bag, that will
symbolize having a person inside and some fake blood
to add more dark imagery.
For my costume, I will need to wear all black. A hoodie
(with hood up), some black jeans or leggings and some
black shoes. For when I am preforming with the green
screen, I will need to wear, along with my black outfit,
green gloves, socks and mask. This is for when I turn
into the ghost. After this, when I turn into the victim, I
will have the same cloths, I will just reveal my face, to the
camera.
32. PRE-
VISUALISATION/CONCEPT
BOARDS
What the guilty ghostly
figure looks like at the
start. Throughout the
video they begin to get
more and more guilty in
different ways e.g. they
could have blood on their
hands or their hands
disappear.

33. PRE-
VISUALISATION/CONCEPT
BOARDS
Most of the
scenes will be
shot in a dark
hallway (rotation
of the camera) or
a dark day
outside.Blood drops to
symbolise death
and either a bin
bag or dirt and
shovel to also
convey death.
35. STRUCTURAL BREAKDOWN
Introduction â Blood marks/dripping on the floor, dragging body to hide in bin etc.
Chorus â Bloody hands (mild) inspired by Macbeth, sees someone staring. Paranoid.
Verse one â Flashback to before the murder when the two friends were arguing, pushing and
shoving each other near a park bench.
Pre chorus â Rotated camera footage of dark lit hallway.
Hook â (I wanna end me) Starts hands disappearing, perspective of the camera is in the
perspective of the criminal looking at their hands.
Chorus - Bloody feet (mild) with sleeves shaking. Paranoid.
Verse two â flash back to when the criminal was thinking about committing the murder. E.g.
google.
Bridge â Begins to hover as a ghostly figure.
Pre chorus â rotated footage of dark lit hallway.
Hook - feet start to disappear, paranoid with guilt that someone is going to find out. Head
shakes
Chorus â Hands disappear and so do feet. turns into the victim.
End â Victim stood scared and flustered.

The problems I might face when filming
here is that people in my family are

get around this by finding another place

This is a safe place to film as long as I
look after the kit.

45. LOCATIONS
The tunnel, underneath the road. You
can access this from the cycle track. I
was thinking of filming at this
location for my chorusâs.
The risks for this location are that
you could step on glass. You could
get run over by a bicycle so watch
out. This is safe as the college is
right next to it, if you need the toilet
there is Tesco.
Cycle path near York College

Outside Woodthorpe Woods. This
is near my house. I was thinking of
filming at this location as a plan B
to my Bridge/chorusâs.
The risks to this location are that I
am going to filming in the evening,
The woods are weird at night
might take someone with me. My
house is near so I can get there
easily.

film at that location?
E.g. the intro
Risk(s) of filming at
that site/Location
York College, a hallway in the
building.
Footage of the lights
flickering. This is for the Pre-
Chorus(s).
The one risk of filming here is
destroyed footage, as
someone could walk through
the hallway and the lights will
turn on. There are no other
risks.
My house, In my garden. The intro of the âbloodâ on
the ground and the body bag
in the bin.
The risk is that I need to look
after the the kit as I have
dogs. There are no other
risks.
Tunnel, from a cycle path. Verse 1/2. The flashbacks. The glass on the floor, could
be harmful as you might fall
into it. It is a cycle path so
you need to watch out for the
bicycles. There are potential
risks at this place.
Outside of
Foxwood/Woodthorpe woods.
This was a plan b option to
the tunnel.
Filming at night the near the
woods could be harmful there
cloud be people who are not
meant to be there. There
could be risks at this place.
49. Technical problems Solutions
(1.) The SD card stops working. Take it back to college and get
a new one or wait until I can.
(2.) The Battery stops working. Take it back to college and get
a new one or wait until I can.
(3.) The camera will not record. See if I can sort it out and then
go to college and sort it out.
(4.) The Green screen does not
pick up the green gloves/socks
as they are the wrong shade of
green.
If this happens (suggested as I
have never worked a green
screen before) I will just send
them back/take them back and
get the right ones.
(5.) The camera is blurry and
will not turn back to normal.
I can either try and sort it out
myself or come to college and
ask Dave.
50. Locational problems solutions
(1.) The location that I want to
film at is taken (only
applicable to the tunnel or the
woods.)
I go and find somewhere else
to film. Try another day and
ask for more time or book the
camera again.
(2.) The weather is not the
best to film at the location I
want to.
I will change around the the timetable
that I will have set up for my filming
plan and see if the weather is better on
that day. Or if it is suitable, I can film
inside.
(3.) I physically cannot get to the
place that I want to film at as it is
blocked off.
I can think of another place or
get to location B.
(4.) I cannot carry all of the
filming equipment that I need,
to the location.
Bring another person with me
(such as a family member or a
friend) to the location.
(5.) I am not allowed at the
place that I want to film at.
I should ask, if it is not a public
place, to film at the location. If it
is a public place I should be able
51. Personnel problems Solutions
(1.) The person, who I want to
film, does not turn up.
I can ask someone else or
think of another idea (such as
filming it without them as a
one woman show!)
(2.) I am ill and am not able to
film.
Book the camera again and try
again.
(3.) someone tries to steal the
equipment.
Try and get it back, contact the
college and the police.
(4.) Someone doesnât see the
point in doing the film and
bails on me.
Get someone else to come
instead or do it my self.
(5.) I do not have the right
amount of people to help me
record the video.
Get more or kick people off.
52. Organizational problems Solutions
(1.) Personnel in my group not
turning up because I havenât told
them âI forgotâ
I need to make sure I invite and remind
everyone in my group to come. I could
invite extra people to come and help if I
know I will forget.
(2.) Not booking the correct
kit/ not booking the kit at all.
I need to book the kit 2 days in advance
of getting it. Look on blackboard and
book the kit I actually need, not one of
anything for example.
(3.) Telling the people who own the
property that I am going to be filming
at the location.
If I want to film on a private
property, I could contact the
people in charge of the location
and ask.
(4.) Not knowing when to use
each of the kit. E.g. the green
screen âwhen ?â
Make a production timetable. This
will stop me wasting my time as I
can follow the timetable so I know
when to film.
(5.) Traveling issues. The busses
might not travel where I live so I
might not be able to get where I
want to film.
I can either shoot all the shots at
college or at home, or get
someone to drive me there. (this
will not happen as I live near my
locations)
